The sheriff stated that the police station has it own propane tank that
heated the water heater. I had a problem with the armory, and the
weapons that were there, after the sheriff stated that it had been hit hard. If so, I think the weapons and ammo would be gone

I think I would have stayed at the police
station for a while.(Running water with a propane tank, weapons, radios,
and partially fenced.) I would have barricaded it more, and lived there
for a while.

I do think they are using too much ammo, when they could
use a melee weapon.(Bicycle girl anyone?!)

"Love the show, of course, but I have some problem with the timeline (and I also couldn't help screaming at the TV over stupidity).

Ok, our Dep Sherf wakes up in the hospital. *Some* power is on. His IV bag is dry.
If he was there longer than 4 days post-fu(k, he shouldn't be alive due to dehydration.

When they go to the station for a hot shower, the statement is made that the gas lines have been down 'about a month.'

The amount of military equipment laying around is amazing. Looks like only abandoned w/in a week.

The wreckages and conditions of some bodies (like the farm house) can't be more than 2 weeks.

Anyone taking guesses on timing? "
One of my friends and I were discussing this very same topic Major! The time lapses seem inconsistent! Besides, his plant looked like it had been hung to dry, rather than dying from not having fresh water supplied to it...

That being said, i was entertained by the show and look forward to next week's episode! We'll see how they do in the future!

In the comic books whaen he finally meets up with his family his wife says that they left him a week or so ago to escape the comming undead invasion but the hospital was still running when they left him, which explains how the zs at the hospital were in good condition and he didnt die of dehydration still since it was only reacently attacked and that also explains how some of the bodies look more decayed than others since it could had been a long period of time between when that victim was turned and when the hospital was attacked.

Either way im loving the series so far

Firstly, Rick is not one of our members, he never seriously thought about zombies ever being real, he is an average joe (z-poc survival terms) just like anyone who is not like us. He is adapting rather well (and does become something he never would have pre-SHTF).

The bicycle girl, like most of this series, adds drama. That was Ricks first kill, and this early his humanity is still in tact. Also, Atlanta was his first encounter with a Hoarde & a Lurker(Tank boy) before that all you see are Walkers(comic book explains the varieties)

Dwayne & Morgan's stories are not finished, they are just kept for another time(about issue 40-45).

And the voice on the radio(Glenn), I cant wait to hear everyone scream MALL NINJA about him, if you think all Rick has going for him is having good luck (remember his wife is banging Shane, so not sure how lucky that is) then you dont know Glenn!

I believe he also stated that the station had a propane tank.

Where I live we use a propane tank because the natural gas lines never made it down our road.

I never let our tank get below 50% full. Our generator, hot water heater and our stove uses propane so as long as we've got propane, we've got all the modern convieniences covered.

Also keep in mind that propane call be stored years longer than gas or diesel and you can see where a propane tank is a must have for survivalist.

I actually got a little nervous it wasn't going to be all that great at the start of the episode. The way Rick handled [or didn't] the high risk shootout by wandering out of cover with a six shot revolver only to turn his back before even confirming all suspects were down was so stupid that I struggled to feel any sympathy for Rick and really started to get nervous I was going to eventually turn it off.

But it picked up the instant Rick woke up & everything had gone to Hell. One of the best shows I've watched in a while if every episode can keep this pace. I can't wait for next sunday.

I wasn't clear on the hot shower @ the station: I realize the propane independence thing, I was commenting on the guess-timate of 'about a month' and identifying the scene.

My logic tells me that maybe the black father & son, since they were not local but had travelled there, were on the run for 'about a month' whereas the Dep Sherf was only abandoned less than a week because not all places will fall.

There will be pockets that last much longer than others. With the amount of military hardware in place outside the hospital, containment must have been really poor.

I wouldn't go to Atlanta if you paid me, today, let alone in a zed-apoc.

I was just curious if anyone thought along the same lines.

The Hospital will not stay 3 weeks after Zedpoc. It would never survive.

@MajorDamage, I'm with you on the whole timeline thing. That kind of inaccuracy can make an enjoyable viewing experience a little less tolerable.

Lets hope that things mesh better in future episodes.

Who knows? Of course, it did seem like the first bandage he had became slightly bloodied, so I'd guess that he was only under for a week or two. I'd imagine that by that time, after having been taken to a hospital promptly, that the wound would have closed enough for it to not be reopening as it seemed to do. Do you find this valuable?

The timeline thing threw me off too. But I kind of thought it may be something that gets a bit more detail in the comics. This is a pretty new idea making a t.v. show about zombies and I'm all for it. I think the first episode was pretty good and ended great. I've also seen some of Lennie James(Father of Duane?) other work and think he is a rather good actor. Do you find this valuable?

still trying to get how he wasn't infected at the hospital...

it was very similar to 28 days later... but even that was wierd... you know.. having a key right under the door and all... the hospital i think is hard to do in shows/movies..

Totally was having flashbacks to "28 days Later" at the start! Until he saw the half-eaten corpse! better FX than the movie! I have no prob w/him being in a coma for several weeks healing, perhaps it was a medically induced coma. Hospital finally fell, meds wore off,he woke up. Did you notice the bed across the door to his room? he had to shove it out of the way to get out. Explains why he wasn't found...
The other points? I watched & read all the stuff on the official site. This show is not just about Zombies...it seems to want to explore "Just how much of yourself are you willing to let die to survive & protect your loved ones. Will you eventually become something like a zombie yourself?" So the 'bicycle girl' scene made sense, for now. It is who our Hero still is. But I ain't watching it for that...I am watching for the cool FX and to see another version of a post-apoc world. If you know the comics, expect things to develop differently because it IS a different medium & that affects what you can do...hopefully, it will keep the best parts and expand the story in good ways. Not sure I buy the best friend doing his wife so soon...timeline says he's only been dead a week. But then, I know more about Zombies than I do about women. And Zombies aren't even real! Oh, did anyone notice if his radio, the one that matches the one he gave to Morgan, was on his belt? If not, then it is in the 'bag 'o guns' and he will have to retrieve it. One thing I didn't expect: Not one living human was killed in this ep! Really felt bad about the horse, though!

"Remember guys, its a freakin' TV show. Entertainment purposes, not a survival seminar.

hey also seem to go into a dormant state when prey isn't near. I like that. It builds suspense. You never know when an apparent dead body is going to open its eyes and attack."
Believe or not, I was talking to some people who are not survivalist and they would love to see more survival like content. They feel that will develop the story and characters more if that stress was added to the characters. Even they knew carrying a duffel bag of shotguns was a little overboard especially when it looked like the shotguns were going to fall out of the bag more than once.

I was reading bits here and there about the comic. When they go dormant, they only come to life when they are disturbed like the soldier in the M1 tank.
