"Have any of you read the comics? they went for a while but they were awesome when I read them as a kid.Actually I own 2 versions of issues 1-50, the individual issues have never been read (thanks to digital comics) and the books I lend out to people who really want to read the story. And did they call T-Dogg by any other name? because if that is supposed to be Tyresse I dont think he can have an 18 year old daughter. Do you find this valuable? |

Jamez820, excellent point re: "we also forget that they are just regular people living regular lives before this happened...". The axe scene is more symbolic than practical -- the role reversal between survivors and zombies, Rick retaining humanity in what would otherwise be an inhuman act by going through the Z's wallet (was anyone else reminded of "Fight Club" ...? "He had a name!"), etcCarnack, I agree about the racist. Hell, he can call ME all the racial epithets he likes, so long as he's got my back -- I'm certainly free to think he's a jackhole in return -- but group survival is either a team sport, or go strike off on your own. It seems to be more about ego / control. Have we not all encountered guys who go "alpha-in-a-bad-way" in a crisis with an (apparent) leadership vacuum? He makes himself the center of attention by wasting ammo sniping random Z's, then tries to assert control over the group by force. It doesn't seem like they have a plan / agreement for what to do with him before they set the escape into motion. I guess I'm not sufficiently hardcore to just eliminate him point blank -- during a fight, sure, but afterwards? I'm too liberal :-D Maybe give him an axe (not a gun) and let him make a break for it on his own, as a diversion? Do you find this valuable? |

People get stressed and do stupid things and turn on eachother when life and something worse than death is unexpectedly incorporated into a plan. It was supposed to be a get in get out and it became the shiftiest, the racist got more than stressed that it was not gonna be as simple as planned, since Rick already "rang the dinner bell" already low morale hit the floor and the racist took matters he believed to be hopeless into his own hands.

You all have to remember, these guys aren't trained to do all this stuff, and haven't read ZSDW.They will ultimately get better through their mistakes. Otherwise, I love watching the characters screw up! Ok, my only problems with the episode (and yes, I know, suspend disbelief and all that), is that despite failing to quickly resolve the gunfight in episode 1, Rick can headshot zombies, with one hand, while running. And super zombie who can scale a fence, vault - and land on his feet - when an able bodied human would have trouble with that. Do you find this valuable? |

The show is great. I like both episodes so far.As far as scaling a fence and landing on your feet, I grew up in Brooklyn NY. We did that all the time, we would get over a fence fast and land running no problem. I am quite a bit older now. But if some flesh eating zombies were on my tail, I would get over that fence hehe. Rick's super accuracy is another matter, but when your life is on the line you might just surprise yourself. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I wasn't really surprised by the fence and all, since it was essentially a wall of zombies he was shooting at. It was a little more jarring when he's running through the street and making perfect hits, but it was also at a pretty close range. Remember that the only fight with handguns at a range longer than ten feet had more misses than hits, fairly realistically (referencing the initial chase fight.)For the life of me, I can't figure why they wouldn't even make an effort to barricade the front of the store, with an entire department store's worth of furniture and crap just lying around. I don't understand why they did not even try to. A couple of showcases, and cabinets would have done wonders to stop, or slow down, the incoming zed. Do you find this valuable? |

Shoot, they could have even used the clothing displays or broke apart the fake pearl or bead necklaces and watch the zeds fall on their arses or at least we could have as a viewer...lol They should be running.

Ok this last episode was disappointing. Merle chose to saw off his hand? Pretty lame, he was handcuffed to threaded rod. I work with it all the time. With a even halfway decent hacksaw, eight to ten stokes max and you are through. They should of done just a bit of research for that scene. Hacksaws make short work of threaded rod, that's just a simple fact. Do you find this valuable? |

Merle, was in a poor state of mind, even if he did know how frail the bar was, my guess is he was so caught up in getting off that roof he didnt care if his hand was there or not. I also guess he hurled himself off the roof afterwards. But honestly, I think him getting out of the cuffs was the right move (halfway through the first season and still nobody has been killed by a zombie on screen) We now have Rick, Glen, T-Dogg, & Daryl back in Atlanta, right back where 3 of them were not even 24 hours ago. (spoiler, not all the group is from the comics) The Shane/Ed encounter was by far my favorite moment of the first 3 episodes and I hope there is more to this story as it is brand new for the show, I always thought of Shane as a douchebag, I am starting to think that Shane just has too big of a heart, regardless of motives, he did take his best friends son & wife and care for them, in my opinion a man who only wanted the woman wouldnt have cared for the son like he did. So far I'm loving the show just as much as I enjoyed the comics. Do you find this valuable? |

the show is great for me so far. i like that they have added extra characters not from the comics. add more personalities into the show making it better for tv. i dont remember from the comics but was merle and daryle in the comics? i dont remember them. but so far so good. at this pace it seems like they'll do 1 volume per season. im guessing bc next episode shows the night zombie attack from previews and thats pretty close to them leaving and finding that neighborhood in the next volume. and yes i know that each season after this will be a full 13 episode season so i guess they'll add more detail into the story somewhere.

"Why don't they call them zombies when they actually are zombies?"L4D they are referred to as the Infected and Highschool of the Dead they are called "Them" I agree with zhunterd it takes a lot to believe that zombies are running amok and denial provides short term solace, eventually they will come to terms or die.
