"Where'd you get these items from this month?"LJ, These all came from Walmart. Tarp and Stakes in camping section, but look for the twine in boating or in tools (for masonry line). Also common 15#-18# twine will work too. It's about the same price. Do you find this valuable? |

"Purchased Items:Good list this month. The tarp and the tent stakes shouldn't be a problem, and I've already got 100 ft of paracord in my kit. The washers are easy too, but nails big enough to use as stakes don't live at my house. I may just use the change I saved by not having to get the Utility Twine to buy a pack of the 7" aluminum stakes to go with the steel ones instead. Do you find this valuable? |

"6' x 8' 5.1 mil tarp $4.48 ( Wallymart)Outlaw, I like the alum poles : ) I had tried one time to use a fiberglass take-down pole for a fishing rod, but it.....didn't pan out. Maybe someone else is smarter ; P Outlaw, you got any "other" uses for those poles? Do you find this valuable? |

1 Emergency Blanket 4.95 1 Emergency Poncho 3.50 Woolen beanie and gloves 2.50 Scavenged: 1/4 " Nylon rope (bout 10 Feet) A Hancercheif bandana. A a whole box of chain resturant hand wipes (Courtiousy of my Local Chicken Treat a Great find) I have posted a list of materials that I use to make a makshift hammock in a previous post. Due to oz's low rainfall (espcially where i am) I am yet to find it neessery to do more than cover myself with a tarp (If I'm Sleeping on the ground) or my jacket and poncho (while i Sleep in my hamock). As for acivitys last month due to lack of funding I never mangaged to get any time at the range, however I'am seeing if my preper buddy will foward me the cash so that I can do some handgun training I will definatly get some shelter practice in tonight, I always set up camp at night so I guess Ill practice durring both day and night, Note: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMrpPW3ZpyY Theres a reletivly good use for fiber glass tent poles. "Outlaw,Ironhand, Yeah a couple, first off a brief discription. they are 2 piece poles about 4 feet long , aluminum tubing, with plastic pins in the end for the tent gromets and caps on the bottom ends So I have basically 4 x 2' aluminum tubes. The are rigid enough to use for splint material for broken limbs. I am altering them pulling the plastic pieces and fabricating aluminum gromet pins to fit. cross drilling the joints and putting in cotter clips. I am also cross drilling the base of them and fabbing a plug to join the two poles giving me an (approx)8' length. I am also fabbing a fishing spear head I can swap with one of the pole tips. These plugs and spear heads will fit inside the tubes and be retained inside by the cotter clips or put into place for use and held by the clips. ( I'll take pics and post it all when done.) The tubes can also be used as a rotisserie bar for cooking over fire. tent poles ! ....:oD Give my itty bitty mind some time to think, and Ill come up with some other ideas. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. LOL - My oldest child is eight. I couldn't expect her to get me a $300 anything.Besides, I guess I grew up in a family where Christmas wasn't measured by how much money everybody spent on one another, but rather on whether you took the time to really think about the other persons interests and hobbies and got something for them that MEANT something, regardless of how much or how little it cost. I'm sure the fact that we were all half-broke most of the time anyway had nothing to do with that. Do you find this valuable? |
