What do you think?
Nov 20 2010, 12:09 AM EST
I know, it's not that thrilling of a read. But i'd like to know what everyone thinks. Do the other members of this community with a moderate-high understanding of firearms think I covered it well enough? Do people on her with low-no experience with firearms find it easy to read and informative? Are you curious to have me cover more? Let me know!

Not too bad. I'd contribute some pictures and video myself, but all of my firearms are back in my home-home 12 hours by flight away. Find a rifle with a non-rotary magazine, as that is unique to the 10/22.I'd contribute some text at the least, but I can't get Writer status as I seem to be missing some key intel on anything to do past using the apply to be a writer button. For people with little or no experience this is actually a great read, thanks for the contribution, it will definitely clear up dreamers and mall ninjas misconceptions in the future haha.

"For people with little or no experience this is actually a great read, thanks for the contribution, it will definitely clear up dreamers and mall ninjas misconceptions in the future haha."Thanks a lot. Thats who I wrote it for. I figured it would be more useful than in just a zombie apocalypse scenario and can be applied to anywhere when SHTF. I know too many people who wouldn't know the first thing to do if they were handed a gun. I figure anything I can do to help raise awareness and increase firearm saftey might be helpful. I dont really want to use it because of how unreliable they are, plus it's the same principle as the rotary magazine. My 12 gauge is being loaned out right now otherwise I'd do that. All else fails, you can find old G3/clone and FAL magazines for less than $1 each sometimes, but the ammunition is a wee bit more since I don't know of anyone who sells single rounds. Well, I'll eventually get my M1 Carbine and possibly my Mosin sent up here, so I can help a bit, but that's a ways down the road since I can't find an FFL other than the PX.

I hope to one day have a comprehensive tutorial for almost every type of firearm/loading system up here. Any help by the community will be greatly appreciated. Do you find this valuable? |

I would DRASTICALLY (caps so you know its important!) increase the information on this page. Many different weapons have many different methods of magazine insertion and ejection (AR vs AK) and that lever action rifle you showed doesn't even use the most common level action loading method of the close tube side/bottom loader. If you want to write an article, thats awesome, by all means, but realize that this broad of an article covers a HUGE spectrum of different techniques and will require a VERY long and well written article to cover everything accurately. Going by this guide, you wouldn't be able to load a single weapon in my home and I have both lever action and magazine fed rifles on hand. Not trying to knock you, just saying it needs a LOT more done to it before I would consider releasing it publicly. Do you find this valuable? |

These are just the two rifles I have with me at the moment. I would love to include more tutorials on a much wider variety, and really wish to branch off into different pistols and shotguns. Unfortunally, I dont have own a pistol and my 12 gauge is with a buddy. If you want to contribute, please do so. I have no problem with people editing the page, adding their own pictured tutorials. Infact, I'd greatly appreciate it if people did. I feel that this should be a community project. As long as people dont delete the work of others (and I mean work, I want someone whose never handled a gun before to be able to gain a understanding on how to operate one safely if they absolutely need to) Please keep in mind that this guide was written only a few hours ago and is by no means anything but in it's infancy. Once again, if you have the firearm and a means of taking pictures (mine were taken with my cellphone, sorry about the quality but I think they're clear enough for people to see) please contribute. Well, to be honest, the details of loading and unloading are covered under the weapons guides.http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Handguns But a general page of firearms operation isn't a bad idea. I just think this sort of stuff goes a little better under the specific guides. Do you find this valuable? |

Original-Sin, I apologize for not asking first but I did go through and make a few quick spelling edits (as well as changed clip to magazine, as there is a slight difference between the two.) I also linked your profile in as well, just to make it easier for folks to get ahold of you if they have any questions. Next time I'll PM first and let ya know I'm editing :)Anyways, i like the page. Great use of pictures and detailed explanations make for a well rounded tutorial. Nicely done! ~LJ Do you find this valuable? |

The edit was welcomed. Thanks for your help and input. As long as people don't trash the article, im perfectly fine with additions, corrections, and changes. If anyone thinks the article needs to be moved, rewritten, or changed in anyway, let me know. Im going to to throw up another thread right now for future additions. Do you find this valuable? |
