Sentimental Value.
Nov 26 2010, 4:20 PM EST | Post edited: Nov 26 2010, 4:20 PM EST
Come Zday, are there any items you plan on bringing along because of sentimental value? They don't have to be especially necessary or useful; they just have to be something you treasure.

For me, it's a pair of Ka-Bar knives, both from Vietnam. One of my grandfathers was in a tank division; the other was in special forces. Sadly, the one in SF died from Agent Orange. The knives mean a lot to me, so I'll try to carry them for as long as I can.

In addition, I keep two pictures in my wallet; one of my family at Christmas last year, and one of me and my girlfriend. Obviously, those mean a lot to me; plus, they don't take up much space.
How 'bout you guys?

I have a small wallet with photos of all of my family, for sentiment and aid in finding them if possible.

I keep my PPK that was given to me by my daughters two years ago. Its a great defensive gun, and it mean something to me.

great thread, and yes.

I would bring an unfired 7.62 bullet that I found on the shooting range the first time I fired a gun. to this day, that is the best day of my life, and I like to keep memories of it.

Agreed, good thread basis. I'm surprised there haven't already been more hits.

My sword, in a way, is sentimental to me... as is the machete my parents got me for my birthday a few years ago.

But, most likely the only objects that would be solely sentimental would be a necklace my dad gave me, of a bull stamped into a piece of metal, and a bandanna from my mum. But even then, Id be wearing the bandanna as well....

I'll edit with other things I decide to bring alone.

Can I bring my smoker? I know it's big and I probably can't carry it, but I've gotten a lot of use out of that thing and it's provided delicious food and good memories to all of my friends. Do you find this valuable?

LOL no offense, but that's a funny image. You carrying delicate china in one hand and a shotgun in the other.

Same with SR and his smoker.

Still, good replies, guys.

My St. Christopher necklace with the words "Protect Us". It was my father's necklace given to him from my mother. I wear it everyday and I only take it off for lacrosse games. Do you find this valuable?

It'd probably be in a vehicle, I wouldn't carry it through the woods.

Though, that is pretty funny.

In my "BOB" I have photos of family, and I would probably take the full tang katana, my oldest son bought me last Christmas, even though I don't know how to use it properly. I would grab it off of the wall.

I would also grab my Great Grand Fathers, antique wind up watch that my Dad gave me before he died last month.

My first guitar that my mom bought from my brother to give to me as a Christmas present, and a few pictures from when I was really young and of my parents before they got divorced. And maybe a few books and movies. (Not to watch the movies but to remember scenes), and a Winchester Model 8 or 12 Featherweight that my grandfather bought when he was 16 and recently gave it to me for pheasant hunting. I have a few pictures of my girlfriend in my wallet, my Remington 870 Express 20 gauge that was my first gun from my parents, my favorite pair of drumsticks that would go in my BOB, and maybe my Walter Payton rookie card that my dad gave me. Do you find this valuable?
