My bob

What do we all think? The only thing that's missing is a magnesium fire starter. I'm not sure where that thing went. It was in there last time I looked. Oh well, I'll get another one next time I go to the store. Otherwise, opinions? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Looks great! You can never have too many lighters, and yes the magnesium fire starter would be a good idea to throw in there. If you live in a cold enough enviroment you might have some trouble with plain old lighters. Do you carry any fixed blade knives? I looked through pretty fast so i may have missed it. If not id go for a Ka-Bar or a SOG Seal Pup. One more question: what are your EDC items to go alog that dont go in the bag (pockets or something)? Do you find this valuable? |

Looks great man! Here's my $0.02.Add a china marker (wax pen). They will write on anything, wet or dry. They also don't need a sharpener. Good call on the tampons. Usually overlooked by men for their med kits. I'd add some instant coffee. When you need a little boost and don't want to use the stackers (I hate them too), putting a big pinch of instant coffee in your mouth and sucking on it will keep you alert and if you are dehydrated, it will keep your mouth wet. 5 hour energy could also be an option. Toilet paper. That's all I have to say. Antihistamines. They keep my sinuses clear and work great as a sleeping pill. I have to carry nose strips to prevent my extremely loud snoring. Don't know if you snore or not, but could be an option if you do. Compressed towels. They are about the size of a Zippo lighter and when you get them wet, they expand into a full size hand towel. No MRE's or food? Looks great man. You aren't overloading yourself with useless crap like many BOB's out there. You know what you need to last 72 hours and that's all you have. Does that poncho second as a tent liner? I know the new ones they issue do. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Looks great man! Here's my $0.02.China marker - added to shopping list. Coffee - Considering Toliet paper - Nah, we've both been to countries where they don't use it and they seemed like happy people right? Kidding, actually I plan on using whatever I happen to come across. Clothes, rags, paper, ect. As for food, I'm living in the heartland of food storage. Salt Lake City, Utah. Everybody has a two year supply. If I'm starting from right here in this room I should be able to scavenge enough to survive. Living in a city does have it's downfalls but there are a few plus sides to it. Do you find this valuable? |

If it were me, I'd throw a few healthy snacks in for good measure. One of my favorite hiking treats are Larabars, which can be bought at Walmart, Trader Joes, and some grocery stores. They're all natural, gluten-free and have an appropriate carb/fat/protein ratio for sustained activity. Personally, my favorite is the peanut butter chocolate chip, but they're ALL good. Now that the commercial is over, seriously, Larabars rule. But protein bars might also be a good choice too. Or granola or something, some kind of "go fast" high morale-value food units will certainly help. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Way better than mine; due to money and Mom I'm currently making my BOB off of whatever we have available in the house at the moment.
