You lost... what now?
Dec 7 2010, 4:19 AM EST
So let's say after z-day, your base is attacked by raiders. They manage to break down the wall, light many of your buildings on fire, then as you are fighting, you run out of ammo and switch to melee. You kill several before collapsing of exhaustion, and when you wake up, you see everything's in ruins. People dead everywhere and your walls and buildings completely demolished. You scrounge around and manage to find a bolt action .22 with 3 shots, a claw hammer, a machete, and a crowbar, along with two cans of food and a backpack. So what do you do now? Do you find this valuable?

Grab up the rifle, the melee weapons and the food w/ pack and find the trail of the raiders. If I'm so badass that I killed several before I collapsed of exhaustion I have nothing to fear. Now lets hunt some orc...uh...em...raiders. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

The way I see it, you've really only got one choice...File down the sear notch, making your .22 fully automatic. Next, eat the food (you'll need your strength for what comes next); carefully roll up pieces of the can to fashion homemade nails. Then take the hammer and nails, attach the crowbar to the machete to make a sweet melee weapon, and go get some revenge. Anyone you kill, take their heads and put them in the backpack. Congratulations! You've just won the apocalypse. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Oh TK, as others have pointed out there is a certain amount of absurdity in the fantasy you've just stated! We should all adhere to the completely natural idea of ... zombies... =^_~= Well, fortunately my best friend and I had lots of trade relations with other nearby groups, so even though our company has been wiped out, we'll head to one of those areas and join up as their personal scavengers/jury riggers/merchants. =^_^= So, since my axe has been stolen and his shield has been stolen too, we'll divvy up the equipment before setting out. I'll take the machete and 22 with it's three measley bullets, then he'll get the crowbar, cuz he's better at swinging than I am, and the hammer cuz he knows more about building/fortifying/jury rigging than I do. =^_^= We'll split the food and I'll carry the empty pack cuz I'm the stronger runner. =^_^= Say... where is he anyhow... =*_*= Do you find this valuable? |

I hope to have created good relations with nearby colonies, so I would go to one of them, tell them what happened, and begin to regroup. After a short while, I would go hunting. I would take the rifle, put the two cans of food, crow bar, and machete in the pack. Walk five miles West, to where I buried a back-up stash. Dig up the 2 plastic pipes I had buried earlier. Take whats inside Tube #1: Mosin, 150 rounds, 4 MRE's, First aid kit, stainless steel water bottle, and hat. Tube #2: Rossi .357 revolver, 100 rounds, Hunting knife, Matches, Gloves, and Jacket Walk a couple of hundred miles away and try to join up with another group. If the raiders at the last colony had the weapons and people to devastate it, then I am putting some distance between me and them. I am not Rambo!!! Do you find this valuable? |

especially with those 3 rounds, right?anyhow, I understand this is a somewhat unlikely situation, but I'm just giving an example so you atleast have a slight plan should you be overwhelmed(it could happen). Also, you're alone, thus making for a far more dangerous situation. P.S. I'm not meaning to sound negative in this thread, I'm just pointing out that z-day has a high chance for landing you in a bad situation. P.P.S. remember this is the SURVIVAL wiki, not the revenge wiki. Do you find this valuable? |

I'm... alone? =O_O=Oh, that means that he must've escaped off to the colony at Bear's Library.. =^_^;;= I'm leaving the machete because I doubt it could do damage against undead or serve as a tool. The crowbar, lockpicks hidden on my person, and hammer are my two tools. The crowbar to break in, hammer to fortify and lockpicks to access highground to sleep on since I don't have someone to serve as a sentry. If I was frisked and my set stolen, I'm making a simple lockpick out of the can. I first make my way through one of the roads we cleared for trade. The houses are thin and far from the tiny little bypass. I take to the more built up, commercial district where my other friend had used the woods to fortify a library that he runs. I'll definitely have to rest before my dash, and the locked up second story section of Jungle Jims, a local international grocery, would do nicely for that. If surrounded in the night I can attract the attention to one side of the second floor then bolt for the other. Then it's going to be a jogging dash through a road with houses close on each side, but fortunately has fences going all along it. It shouldn't get too much traffic, but would probably be littered with zombies due to the slow outflow of them from the place. That fact alone would make it a road which could never be satisfactorilly cleared. After that I should be close enough to be "home free" Do you find this valuable? |
