HAMMOCKS!!!!!!! in a wood, make a treehouse or something similar or put a hammock 6-7 metres above ground! please comment for ideas! 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Here's the problem:

1. If it's 6-7 meters above the ground, you can't hop down and run off if you see danger coming. You'd have to shimmy down the tree.
Not to mention the possibility of falling out... 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I like the treehouse part... but a hammock that high would be pretty impossible and treacherous to get into Do you find this valuable?

jim, who'd see you if you were 25 feet up in the woods? you'd probably blend right in to the background.

but your right about the falling out part.....

i have a hammock for backpacking. its very comfortable. the best part is that its a lightweight bed. it also has a rain fly and mosquito net Do you find this valuable?

it would be better to find two trees that are close together, go up to the suggested height (6-7 meters) and start building a frame, lay down wood then hay/ pine boughs etc. put 4 sticks up on the corners, buy large mosquito/ rain tarp and install it. should work ok Do you find this valuable?

way better idea. maybe add a zip line for quick escapes Do you find this valuable?

that would be location specific. if i had a tree house or what youre proposing, i would be happy to zip down to the ground, a good distance away from the tree house. its for a quick getaway. climbing down is slow, and if the zed get the jump on you they will be below you waiting for dinner.

i was thinking a zip line to another treehouse, if you haven't quite forsaken the old one. it'll give yo some time to fight back and possibly regain supplies. Do you find this valuable?

the problem is that you would need ladders as well, otherwise youre just going lower in sections Do you find this valuable?

People really need to learn how to climb a Tree.. I myself, Sleeping in the middle of no where in an Area well locked up with one person awake.. Or even taking shifts while driving to sleep, and one person as gun side.. Switch out with them, Or if you have four like i plan on having have a group switch out. Do you find this valuable?

I like the Idea of treehouses. I've always felt safer if I'm off the ground.

I've always liked the idea of tree-houses, too. Inna woods, maybe in a swamp (if you're used to living there, damn mosquitoes.)

But they are labor intensive, and are prone to Molotovs. Do you find this valuable?

I posted this idea before and a lot of comments were that I'd fall down and be eaten. Or if zombies found me I'd be stuck up there. I'd say forget the hammocks in the zombie apoc. They might as well be a silver platter. Do you find this valuable?

Has no one heard of the jungle hammock?

I have one very similar to this type.

There is no way of falling out of that bad boy...and it will keep the bugs off you as well.

As far as how to get to it 20 feet in the trees. Why not use a knotted rope or a rope ladder to climb up...then retract the ladder or line.

It's not a horrible idea. With a good long spear you could deal with a small number gathered underneath the hammock. Or my personal fave...a weight on the end of a rope. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I have always liked the idea of a tree house or tree village.

Raiders will never see you and the dead can't get to you. It's a win win.

Fire could be a pretty big problem though. Do you find this valuable?

A tree village would be kinda epic you could have all the houses be connected by bridges and in the center of the village that would be the main meeting place for town meetings an also trade.

It has its pros main one is that it would be a little difficult for raiders and zeds to get to and it would be easily hidden.

But you would always have to send people down to farm, hunt, and fish, unless you got a lot of birds and a whole lot of fruit trees, also forest fires would be a problem. Do you find this valuable?
