This is amazing!

You've really thought this through! How long did it take you to design and plan all this? Its great for disaster, AND it'll make a great home! At the armoury part, you put earplugs in twice ;P About the grain stores on the dark green part, are you willing to just give that food up, or are you transporting it inside if it's in danger? Do you find this valuable?

"You've really thought this through! How long did it take you to design and plan all this?Pedro's plan is pretty cool, but it seems more like fantasy because of how much it would cost just to buy such a plot of land to begin with. The time necessary to erect such a marvel could be too long and Z-day come before It's fully constructed. It's just all around impractical unless one has the time and resources to devote to such a project. If he had a pad like that I'd be the first person to give up everything going on here in the US and go farm and live a simple life, so long as I got a room in the main house. I love hot weather and farm work. Do you find this valuable? |

I think "plans" like this while neato and all that isn't really a plan because it just isn't realistic. In the real world there is a big difference between actually doing something and just writing about it or coming up with a design on paperJust because you can write it sure doesn't mean you can do it. Your plan is only as good as what you have NOW , a fantasy plan involving building forts , farms etc that you hope to get some day is a bigger fail then the kid that wants to take over the local Walmart I know it's not as interesting as a fantasy plan but a kid that has a back pack ,camping gear, some can foods and some very basic survival skills has a much better plan then a fantasy plan that is just on paper Do you find this valuable? |

I agree that you should have short term and long term plans but that doesn't mean your long term plans can be so unrealistic that they are probably not going to be happening.....this is when they stop being a real plan and cross over to being a fantasy. I could say my long term post TEOTWAWKI plans is to build a working copy of the Millennium Falcon out of bicycle parts and toothpics but that doesn't mean I have a real plan does it? Well, yes, but he has mentioned how long it'll be until he can get this. It's realistic, just an amount of time

With the correct amount of time (50-150 years) and the correct amount of money (a kizzilion pounds) anything is possible. Me, Carnack and and Pedro understand that. You don't. As the saying goes (if I remeber correctly): ye old money gets sir whatever sir wants. At least I think that's what it is. Do you find this valuable? |

"You've really thought this through! How long did it take you to design and plan all this?Long term the design work has been percolating in my brain for a good few years. However, it was about two years ago that I adapted it for zombie apocalypse and fleshed it out with the help of several people on this site. Earplugs twice? I'll look at that. Good catch. Grain stores allow for extra stockpiling pre-Z. Because they are usually filled from the top and emptied from the bottom, if there are zombies swarming around the base the grain will be inaccessible. Until recently I had seen this as an acceptable scenario, since clearing out the zombies would be something that had to be done anyway. However, the internals of tier 6 are vast enough that I could use it for grain storage in addition to the water, electricity and sewage infrastructure. This will likely be an alteration I make soon, once I have done a little more research into the storage necessities of grain. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Depending on where you buy it, it can be less than $300 an acre. For example, one parcel of 503 acres is going for $35,000 CAD. As for construction, for the most part it is just dirt and walls. And if I can find sloped land, it will be even quicker to build. Do you find this valuable? |

In the real world there is a big difference between actually doing something and just writing about it or coming up with a design on paperThis realism issue that everyone has, is it cost, or time, or simply the size of it? If I were to locate this in the US, I could have a plot of land in Texas for $200,000. Deposit $40,000, or £25,000 in UK currency. This is affordable to me. Height? 18.2 metres. Not really that tall, about 4 storeys on an average building. And again, the majority of the base is just dirt and walls. Do you find this valuable? |

The cost? Whilst I don't want to be the guy who rubs it in your face, I probably make a lot more money than you do. So whilst you might see something as prohibitively expensive, I don't.
