Would your family make it?
Jan 3 2011, 1:31 AM EST | Post edited: Jan 3 2011, 1:31 AM EST
So I joined this site 2 days ago and since then have been flashing back to my survival plan constantly. Well I began to think about my family. Some of us, myself included, don't live that close to them and going to rescue them would not prove ideal in most circumstances. For those of you with family or extended family in inconvenient locations...would they be able to survive the Panic without your expert knowledge on zed survival and defense?

In the case of my family, unfortunately, I am pretty positive they would be the appetizers.

I doubt it. Except for my grandfather, possibly. He was a paratrooper. Do you find this valuable?

I personally doubt it. Not since I ended up a million miles away.. None of them are very into learning any useful skills. Do you find this valuable?

yeah it would take diagrams, charts, and a lengthy powerpoint presentation to convince my mother and even then, my sisters could be chewing off her leg and she would still say i was full of ****.

I'm gonna have to buy them a copy of world war z or something to light the fire under their asses. maybe i'll just give them maps of my rendezvous point and hope they make it before Im forced to bug out.

I think my parents would. They recently moved to NH with a lot of space. Before that after my dad retire he ripped out the grass in the backyard and planted a complete garden with vegetable beds. My mom started to research how to can garden vegetation and my dad began to pickle veggies such as okra, pickles, onions, bell peppers, jalapenos, etc. My dad has always been very intelligent in figuring things out and building things from scratch. My dad is also planning on buying an 18" shotgun soon. Not sure what kind. That's my parents.

As for my brother and my sister and their spouses, not so much. They both live in the LA county area. My brother has told me has a bug out bag ready in his car for when SHTF. So he has a better advantage than my sister.

Lol I give my old man and brother equal footing as me easily. My dad snagged up a .44 mag Desert Eagle earlier today. 6 inch barrel...I cant wait till the next time we get some range time. My brother while not into firearms like me and my father has a great love for knives. He's pretty adept with a shotgun. His favorite for hunting and clays is a remington 870 20 gauge. He's out shot me with my winchester 12 gauge quite a few times. Lol I'm not ashamed to admit it.

My brother works as a pipe fitter. He has also done boiler making and welding as well. Gotta strong back and I know he'll watch mine.

Very much doubt it, only myself and grandfather would realistically stand a small chance. Do you find this valuable?

Me and my dad would probably make it but my sister and mom? I don't know.

Between myself and my dad we have a small arsenal. My mom and sister would have to depend on us for protection. I will be armed with my Sig 556, my Sig P226 and my cold steel katana.

My mom would never believe in any of this stuff. She would not believe there were zombies until one bit her. My sister isn't interested in anything to do with survival and changes the channel when I'm watching Bear Grylls.

Only half my family would make it if my dad and myself are not successful in guarding the women.

Not all but some. My dad is a Nam vet, he's not in the best physical condition these days but he has a cool head and he's a darn good shot so I'd say he'd keep my mom safe untill they got to our BOL. I'll also be with them and we'll leave at the first sign of trouble. My sister and her bunch will be in my secondary BOL as it's pretty close to her and I'd say they stand a pretty good chance of making it. Most of my siblings are going to meet up with either my bunch or the sister I mentioned before so they stand a much better chance. That coupled with the fact that most of us are avid shooters I'd say they stand a better chance then most. My uncle and Aunt that live near us would most likely survive as well. Heck my uncle owns my primary BOL. I can't talk to much as to the ones that live away from here though. Also my girlfriend will probably be with me so she stands an alright chance, if not her family has a pretty secluded place to go to and her dad is a bigger gun nut than me. Also forgot to mention my brother in Arkansas would most likely make it. He lives off in the Ozarks and has a ton of supplies and gear. If I lived closer I'd probably use that area for my BOL. Do you find this valuable?

I'd like to think so. My family is all either: military, ex-military, cops, bikers, or gangbangers....lol. There are more than a few conspiracy theorists also. Hell some of them will fair better than I would I'd imagine...probably got bunkers and **** already. not so much for zeds, as for "when the gubment comes to take 'er guns" Do you find this valuable?
