"just wondering guys what do u think will happen to our world when the milatary steps in to take down the zombie threat. assuming this is a class 4 infection (whole world infected) they would probaly just use nerve gas and naplam to burn them out"It depends on many factors - 1) Infection rate 2) The Panic that ensues. Panicked humans can be more dangerous than the zombie horde. 3) Zombie type. 4) The Military unit. Some units have better leaders and adapt quicker than others. 5) Zombie immunities. Unless the zombie virus creates a new system to run the basic instincts and motor skills of a zombie, I believe nerve gas would work. However, some authors believe it will not. Rage zombies like those in 28 days later and Zombieland, nerve gas will probably work while Max Brooks zombies, it will not. 6) Overall Military Command adaptability. Will they stick to common war doctrine or adapt to a new threat quick enough. Humans have a bad habit of being set in their ways. 7) Lastly, no one really knows since there are no live specimens (or at least know of any). As for Napalm, for the rage type - most likely. For the undead type, it has to cook the brain and/or make the head explode by boiling the juices in the brain housing group. Pressurized steam can be very explosive as seen in some Kilauea Volcanic and Steam locomotive explosions. Read World War Z to get some sort of an idea. However, remember it is still largely science fiction. http://www.amazon.com/World-War-Oral-History-Zombie/dp/0307346617/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1294074251&sr=1-1 Do you find this valuable? |

I don't think nerve gas will work considering from what we've seen in movies and read in books.....they may have no nervous system left. The whole body is dead.

"okay since we are using movie zombie theory here okay well their BRAINS are active in movies so the brain is part of (the main part) the nervous system so yes it would work actually Do you find this valuable? |

Except most nerve agents are in aerosol form designed to be inhaled. Since zombies typically don't breathe in most versions, a respitory nerve agent would be useless. One absorbed through the skin would have a better chance, but that depends on how a potential virus reacts to the foreign attacker. Long story short, it's not worth it.

Whether nerve gas would work or not is probably irrelevant, I don't think nerve gas would be high on the list of routes they would take. If an area is so compromised that they are considering large scale attacks on our own soil, they won't want to have to come back and manually clear every building to ensure the job is done. The more likely option would be cluster bombs, and airstrikes. Napalm is more of a "shock and awe" type of weapon, and not very effective compared to a lot of other things we have at our disposal. I don't think you can scare a zombie into not being a zombie, so aside form the fact we rarely use it at all I feel napalm can be ruled out also. Just to throw an opinion before this one rears it's head too...I seriously doubt nukes. On our own soil, no matter the situation, nobody wants radiation clouds roaming around. Not to say none of them could ever happen, just that they are probably the least likely 3 things that would be used. If I were making a prediction I would say that if they are going to hit an area so infested that they were considering gases and such, they would "write off" the structures, and bomb the hell out of it from the sky, then send in an infantry team to confirm the dead, and finish off the rest. Could be wrong, but I hope to never see if I am...lol Do you find this valuable? |

Unlike WWZ, the bombing would be more effective. Like I stated before, unless the virus creates a new nervous system or they become more like jellyfish in which a colony of animals controls each part, the bombing will either short circuit or kill the zombie's old brain nervous system. I would argue that you can probably knock an undead or living zed out if they are still using the human anatomy. It is the old brain that controls motor skills, eating, and etc. So when you get knocked it, the aggressor is short circuiting your old brain. The pain sets in after you wake up. The zombies will be immune to the pain but not the short circuiting or damages to the nervous system. They will definitely JDAM and Thermobaric the crap out of the cities and any mass horde movement. Another good reason not to have a BOL in the city ... ;-) Do you find this valuable? |
