The Po-2, also known as the U-2 was a Soviet-made biplane, and is the most widely produced biplane in the world, the second most widely produced plane. It was an extremely versatile machine, used as a trainer, a crop-duster, a ground attack and light fighter, reconnaissance, and primitive biological warfare. It has a range of ~630 km, can lift about 260 kg, and officially carries two people. However, it was used, among other things, for medevac, and could carry several patients strapped to the wings.

Anyway, I'll get to the point. The plane can carry four or more people, plus another hundred or two pounds of supplies. It flies as fast as a car drives, but without traffic jams and such. While it's effective range is a little less than four hundred miles, you could carry fuel for it to extend that distance. When you need to get out of the area quickly, it sure beats driving. Plus, it's (nearly) undetectable to radar: in the Korean war, it was used as a stealth bomber (at night), and it was very effective, because the jet fighters couldn't lock on to it. But I digress.

This plane is relatively cheap and easy to build, and also relatively simple to fly. No complex instrument panels, no "system failures"...the prototype first flew in 1927.

It would take some time to actually get this possibility online, because, as with any plane, you need to actually know how to fly. The main advantage here is that this is one of the easiest planes in the world TO fly.

In case anyone's still reading this, and actually is interested, I found some blueprints. They're in Russian, but no worries, just scroll to the bottom. They'll be there.

If anyone's actually interested, I can try to find more detailed blueprints, PM me or whatever.

TL;DR: Cool, cheap plane that's good for travel post-zday.
