How to prepare gear for all-season scenario
Jan 16 2011, 7:33 AM EST
Hey guys back again. While I've been reading up on some people's list of gear that they'd bring I was wondering... How should I pack for all seasons. Reason why I ask is because I will most likely be traveling when Z-Day occurs. And while (hopefully) I won't be moving around for 1+ years, I've lived in West Michigan for almost my entire life, and we've have some crazy weather. One day it'll be in the 50's and the evening it will drop to high 20's. I'd like to believe that I could just bring a sleeping liner or something as light as that to keep weight down, but I can't really rely on that. Plus with 2010's winter weather from New York to Texas, that only adds more concern for multi-season equipment. So does anyone have tips or ideas for surviving winter, spring, summer and fall with as little equipment as possible? Do you find this valuable? |

Cloths that can be layered work well. I always have an insulated jacket in my BOB, along with a long sleeve shirt, and a t-shirt. This will keep me warm in all but the worse weather. I understand the weather your going through, although you have it worse over by the lake.South Central Michigander Here! Do you find this valuable? |

although theyre bulky, carhartt jackets are warm enough to wear in winter (especially with layers underneath) and yet wont burn you up in spring or fall. theyre also one of the most rugged jackets ive heard of for their price.
