Survival plan: Apartment
Jan 29 2011, 12:12 PM EST | Post edited: Jan 29 2011, 12:12 PM EST
This is my plan if a outbreak occurs.

Step One: When outbreak occours barricade windows with matress and metal framing, I live on the third floor so this isn't a main priority, i have one window too.

Step two: turn on all water and fill tubs and sinks, if possible wait until everyone has left the apartments, are BCE every house, let them out and take there home, and do the same.

Step Three: Fill all tubs with water on the remaining apartments, tell them to stay in the lower floor if you see anything that looks in pain or crying for help.

Step Four: Move all food to a refridgerator, call friends to help with everything, let them help with barricading things and scavenging food.

Step Five: Set up my radio my dad gave me (hes a trucker) and try to communicate with people, tell them to rendezvous to our location, but bring all supplies, we'll check you at the door or deny you if you have any sign of infection, tell them to go at-least 10 miles away from location if any sign of infection shows, setup barricades behind stairs and a movable matress, with 3 benches (in hallway) behind that, so that we can let people in, door is glass, i'l replace that with metal plated 4 paned glass, there is only one door to our apartment.

Step 6: take ladder to roof and break it down after, get into the apartment through the roof and drop down that ladder to the third floor, cut ladder with fire axe (one in place of fire extinguisher and keep that in case of helicopter coming.

Step 7: keep all decks clear, and use the third floor decks to have a lookout and plan what happens next.

Message me about this.

Nothing wrong with having multiple plans.

I would initiate this plan first if you intend to go with the other plan.

If you destroyed the stairs, how would more survivors get up? and if we had to leave for any reason we couldn't take everything we needed. but good idea :)

"You could get a ladder."
Good idea :P I could cut in half the ladder that leads to the third floor, except it probably wouldn't be tall enough.

Hang a rope or rope ladder if you have access to one. Pull it up when you are not using it.

Problem solved.

Very excellent point. I would recommend spray painting the windows to block light, though.

Step 4. Do your friends know about this already? They should, otherwise they will make their own preparations WTSHTF and ignore you.

Step 5. Rather than ask them to come to your location, consider using an RVE. Safer that way.

Step 7. Plan that part now as well.

You might not have to worry about people coming to your apartment. But I see an apartment as kind of a bad place as a BOL, but only because the city it's in.
Anyway, could you safely tear down drywall separating apartments, that way you don't have to go through the hallway to access all the rooms people might be moved out of?

What about food?

Ok. What if they refuse to do as you tell them?

And do you have metal plated 4 paned glass lying around, or know where to find it?

Food, i'd think we'd have enough food to last a while, if that ran out, i could scout to the forest, about 1 / 4th of a mile away and they have a green house with pre made fruits, vegetables, already growing, i'd try to setup a path to get there so we could go more often.

We will simply ask agian, if they don't cooperate tell them we will kill you if you don't do what we say, this is for the protection of our resistance.

Good idea on the water, just one problem I can see. What happens when your water becomes stagnat (bacteria or other micro orginisims take up) or when bugs get in it or mice/rats start using it as a water scorce too? I would say to bottle as much water any way you can and as much as you can. Helps to cut back on contamination and since water doesn't go bad on its own, it will just have a dull taste after a week or so but fully save to still drink.

Oh and I like your idea about bugin in an appartment. That would be my second place of choice.
