"great site that lists the top ten melee, rifle, and handgunsSo the dumbass that wrote that knocked down the FS2000 because it wasn't an American gun? Yet didn't do that with the AK? Then put a large calibre full auto machine gun as #1? Posted the wrong damn gun for the H&K AR-15, and then put 2 AR platforms at hugely differing spots. And no AR-15 comes in .308 Do you find this valuable? |

The Ma Deuce would definitely work but if you don't have one come 0 day, then there is no guarantee you will ever find a working one. If someone does and they do not know about .50 cals, if they need a new barrel because it is glowing or they damaged the old one, they better know something about .50 cals or the weapon may blow up in their face because of incorrect head space and timing. This was even drill into our heads in boot camp even though my MOS was not 0331. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FC7m0pBdMk FS2000 is a good weapon and definitely would not turn a good deal or free one down, however I prefer the Keltec RFB because of the larger caliber. Are melee wepons out or are we only talking about guns? I would use a firemen axe and a small rifle or SMG with single shot if I can find one. I'd cut the spike of the back of my axe and grind it down a little so I'd have a rough hammer on the back. Do you find this valuable? |

If I wanted to be fast moving and be able to double tap with only one pull of th trigger, I would go with the skorpion or some other small sub machine gun. It may not be too much fire power but it will but a bullet through the head. If I where to want something a bit further range to try to keep them at a distance, I would probably go with the ak47, m4s, or the FN FAL. The good thing to do in a zombie apocalypse is to know your guns, and know where to get em.

people we need to carry silent weapons. And also blunt ones as well. Like a base ball bat and cross bow. Using a load weapon will only bring more zombies towards you. just remember to bring the quite ones to the fight. lol

While I do advocate stealth, I don't like when people condemn guns on the basis of noise, because we don't know how any zombies would really act. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Crossbows are great, but why wouldn't you also carry a handgun? Is a couple extra pounds too much weight to carry that you're willing to give up the ability to kill a small mob of zombies in the event you turn a corner and see twenty or so rotten eyeballs turning in your direction?

I would assume that noise would attract them, but it would also attract other survivors, not all who may be friendly. But I agree that in some circumstances and locations where noise may not be an issue.I prefer melee over firearms whenever possible, but I would prefer to avoid confrontations with the undead altogether. Relying on either on firearms or melee weapons as a primary means of undead disposal is questionable. A good balance is needed. There will be times when a single undead is not worth the round it would take to put it down, other times when there is just one too many to try and take on safely with a hand weapon. It will be a judgement call. Unless your sitting on a munitions depot, ammuntion will be a limited resource after Z-day. Once available stocks dwindle, firearms will become little more than clubs. Even with reloading and carefully using your muntions, how long do you expect them to last? On scavenging runs, how much ammo would you expect to carry? Weight becomes an issue as well. Having said that, there is no substitute for a firearm. Properly used, firearms allow you to control the distance in which you engage targets, and the numbers you have to engage in close in fighting long before the horde would reach you. Squeezing the trigger requires no more effort than raising the weapon, choosing the target and a second of careful deliberate aim. When you find youself suddenly up to your butt in undead, a firearm can put the odds quickly in your favor. I only suggest finding a good match that works for you, and put some thought into when and where you would use them. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Most of us would already be one of them before we can get any decent weapons so I would use my darts and my set of throwing knives

"Most of us would already be one of them before we can get any decent weapons so I would use my darts and my set of throwing knives"What makes you say that? I've got weapons that I consider better than "decent" than I can access in less than 30 seconds. So do most people I know, and a lot of people on the site. Do you find this valuable? |

I am not sure how effective these weapons would be against the undead. Also, I am not sure I would want to throw my weapons around when fighting more than one undead at a time. Retrieving your weapons may not be possible when fighting more than a few. This would leave you totally unarmed.
