i hope that, when the next world war comes around, they make it a point to make plenty of surplus weapons.

and ammunition.

I'd love to be able to stockpile for cheap.

IF there was anything good to come out of another world war, it would be that.

oh, and the current "american way". you know, everything that's been bringing down our glorious society.

"Dude, this is the guy who's getting food from Wal-Mart....

I'll take the Hi-Point!!"
Walmart kills.
Okay, so I must admit, It's not 'junk' and I don't have much personal experience with the gun, but I know a lot about it and it has always been notorius for jamming. I did sound like an idiot in my post, though.

"M1 Carbine JAMS like crazy. I would take anything over this old hunk of junk."
In my experance the reasons an M1 jams a lot are because it's not a "Real" M1 but a civilian made Unerversal and / or poor quality magazines

Unerversal carbines look like real M1s but very different with few parts that interchange. Have had people insist to me that their Unerversal was a US military carbine but they never were instead they were made in Florida from 1960s- 80s. You can spot most across the room because for some reason they have metal hand guard.....Maybe some shoot OK but not the norm

Also lots of 30 Rd M1 mags can be junk and cause jams eeven in a good carbine. Most 30 rd. mags you see are not US military and likely to be of poor quality. I have seen US 30 rd. mags that didn't function well too. If you are going to use a 30 rd. mag make sure you have shot it a lot.
15 rd. mags are normaly OK and are what mags the gun was designed around and was what was used in WWII, wasn't till the full auto M2 came out that they switched to the 30 rounders.

I mostly stick to the 15 rd. ones and have one of those neato WWII ammo pouches that go on your butt stock and holds 2 clips

"oops, I think you mean magazines."
I think they can be used interchangeable and I do
my dictionary says about Clip..A metal frame or container holding cartridges; can be inserted into an automatic gun = cartridge clip, cartridge holder, magazine

Sounds like those do hicky things that I put bullets in and put in the carbine so it can shoot

ROFL.

@Sharpie: you tellin me that surplus(quality) weapons for cheap isn't good?

I should b*tchslap you for stupidity.

I wish i were an adult back when the cold war ended. I'd have taken a trip to Ukraine and bought a small armory for a fraction of the price of a new mustang.

When you look at the big picture, no. The human cost of a modern world war would be devastating, I believe THAT would bring the apocalypse, at least TEOTWAWKI

Go ahead, but I hit back....usually harder =P

I 100% agree with that, but who says the people who survive are the ones that will take care of our mother (earth)?
