My Survival Plan

First i would do is board up my house for a defensive. Then TRY to contact some friends and family. In my opinion, the more the merrier. I would then gather all my supplies and ration them, for me and my family. I plan on waiting in my secure home for about 2 weeks. I would defend myself and others with my mosin nagant and my .22, I have plenty of rounds. after that, myself and a select few would move to our rally point to prepare for the rest of the group, we would clear and secure a local furniture store. we would block the rear entryways, and set up a barricade at the front. the front would not be the best defense for a while, but we would have a constant watch. soon after the rest of the group would come. then when the room is set up we would have a meeting to settle on who does what for the group, it depends a lot on what they did before Z-day. we would need mechanics, medical, any kind of maintenance, etc. then we would get to work. we would then build rooms on the interior, for living and a work space. we would then begin to construct a defense, such as a ten ft concrete wall, a pit, and guard towers. we would build the wall so that we could have distance between it and the store to grow crops and raise animals (rabbits, chickens, cattle and pigs) for food. we would get all of our supplies by raiding and scavenging other stores near by. we would get energy from solar panels that we got of the top of the middle school. as for water, we have two lakes near by, we would gather t up, bring it back and purify it by boiling it, and purification tablets. we would keep building, and develop a civilization within our walls. We would come to agreements by voting. we would accept other survivors, but before letting them in, we would make them remove all weapons, and our medical team would look them over for bites and any other sort of infection.

This is actually one of the few good newbie plans.
Couple questions.
Where is the furniture store?
How much food do you have?
Concrete wall? how?
What about people that don't cooperate?

the furniture store is about 10-15 minutes driving
as for food, i have plenty of MREs (I'm in the military, so i have extra supplies)
yes we would build up a concrete wall, 10+ ft, we would get the concrete from the home depot down the block from this store, and we would have a guard watch as we build a foundation, and work only during the day. (I hope I made that clear enough, if not let me know)

Sounds like a high population area.

You are in the military? What is to happen if you are called to duty? Do you find this valuable?

There actually is a high population here, but i figure it is better to wait it out than to try to bug out of the area and get stuck in traffic or something. Do you find this valuable?

How big is the furniture store? And also, building a concrete wall, guard towers and a trench seems a bit unrealistic.

Also, not trying to sound like a grammar-nazi, but can you try to use better grammar and punctuation. Do you find this valuable?

The furniture store is pretty large, I don't know the exact size. It has multiple doors, but should be easy to block. How is it all unrealistic? It is easy to get the supplies, and I know how to do some construction so building will not be to difficult. Do you find this valuable?

Sounds like a pretty good plan but I disagree with 'the more the merrier'.
Personally I'd keep it down to six maximum, maybe ten. Moving in numbers might not be the greatest idea because you are easier to see. Do you find this valuable?

Well, at first my family and some friends would just try to survive the initial outbreak.
After some time we would accept other survivors and we would start a colony. Do you find this valuable?

The walls defenses? I plan for the walls to be over ten feet tall and made of concrete. As well as a trench/ moat ten plus feet deep around the store.
I hope that is what you were asking about. Do you find this valuable?

Not a bad start, but you haven't addressed the food issue for the first year. What will you eat until the first crop came in? What if the crop fails, and you need two years worth of food? Are you going to rely on scavenging? Do you find this valuable?

I'm going to scavange, but for the most part I am in the army and have MREs saved up. Do you find this valuable?

I think the walls would take about a month or two to build.
The towers will be built later on, they will be built out of wood and metal, I would like for them to be built over fifteen feet. Do you find this valuable?

Scavenging is not a reliable food source. Unless you have two years of MRE's stored for everyone in your plan, you need to think of an alternative. Consider building up a stockpile of dry and canned goods. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?
