I was just thinking of how bored I would get in an outbreak. I will bring a deck of regular playing cards, my iPod, a solar charger (Yes, I have one), and a journal. I'm not sure what else, but I think I would want more things to do. I am not the kind of person who can sit still for a few hours, and I need to do something while I fall asleep. Do you find this valuable?

Personally, I have pretty mush the same as you (no solar charger :-). Playing cards are a big one... I also have stashed some extra things in my equipment at my BOL - - Dungeons and dragons is a big one for me. The games are long and in depth, they tend to give people a chance to release energy and feelings that are not always socially acceptible (I mean who doesn't want to be an orcish barbarian on occasion), and it also sharpens problem solving and provides a good way to examine group tactics on paper.

Other fine pass-times:
Charades
board games
hobbies - such as - arts and crafts (why not decorate that new raider skull you claimed)
dancing--- if you have music
Music - preferably an instrument, but just an ipod is fine.

Seriously, it doesn't matter what you do to blow off steam... but you have to blow it off.

Thanks for the input. And I agree, you've gotta blow off steam somehow. Do you find this valuable?

I have a deck of cards, ipod, solar AA charger, a magnetic chess set, a few dice, a notepad and an ereader. I'm going to get a AA to USB charger from the dollar store, and then I'll have a 8 ounce library. I have the handbooks for a couple RPGs on the ereader, but haven't tried them yet. I have lots of pens and paper in my BOB. Always losing those things. I also have an Ipod, Cards, and a couple of Role Playing Games Including Dungeons and Dragons, though I haven't touched it in ages.

I need to look into a harmonica and solar charger.
