You have to carry your extra ammo in somthing, and this is my favorite. The Spec Ops brand M.O.U.T. Rig. It cost a bit, (you can find them cheaper at AAFES PX's) but it holds eight 30 round mags in a very compact, adjustable rig that attaches quickly and adjust fast. It's a very low-profile rig and your can ad MOLLE pouches to it. Won't slow you down like some rigs. http://www.specopsbrand.com/tactical-gear/load-bearing-gear/m-o-u-t-rig-military-operations-on-urban-terrain.html

I use the Blackhawk STRIKE rig for the exact same reasons only mine can be low pro by folding in the pockets without my plates or full combat plate carrier... I also own the HSGI Weesatch plate carrier but it's a little too bulky while loaded up. This is why I stick with the Blackhawk. I also use HSGI Taco mag pouches and HIGHLY recommend then to ANYONE looking for a solid, multi-purpose mag pouch.

I looked at one of those and the Weesatch when shopping for a new plate carrier. I finally purchasd a PIG carrier in the end. I am using a pair of ELG Monkey Stomper pouches on the front, and a CamelBak Ambush 500 on the back. It is a little thick front to back but, since I'm 6'2" and 235 lbs I don't think its too much of an issue since I don't expect to go caving or crawling into some kind of confined space if I can help it. I really like how the PIG keeps my plates up were they need to be effective. Plus its a very comfortable carrier to wear. Do you find this valuable? |

I love the Blackhawk because it's more of a compact carrier than the Weesatch. I picked up a HydraStorm bladder for it and it's been much easier for rifle courses. Like I said previously, I'm using three HSGI Taco Double Deckers along with a blowout kit and another triple mag pouch. I'm 6'0'' and 190 lbs, so I've had to adjust the straps a bit to make it snug enough to hold without being cumbersome. It's great while prone too. Pretty versatile.
