"I don't have a bandolier, but I do plan on carrying several hurlbats, smallish hammer, and stilletto daggers for backup/ throwing (at humans, in the historical way, as a distraction). "
Good point. I had disregarded the idea of carrying most thrown weapons as being ineffective, but I hadn't considered using them for this purpose.

EDITED TO ADD:
I wouldn't trust them for much of anything else, but just as flying bits of sharp metal, these are fairly cheap

yeah maybe, but take that hatchet back and say yes to the lighter slingblade with a 36" handle.

on a new slingblade, equally shave/grind about 1/2 or more of the metal off both sides leaving the metal about 2 1/4-3 inch wide while trying to retain the curved tip.

instead of making a or "v" edge, grind (preferable file with a 12" bastard file) both sides to make a parabolic edge (looking much like a leaf coming to a point) so the bevel becomes a curve incorporated into the blade making the edge stay sharper longer, cut cleaner, and stick less into whatever object it slices.

i've seen regular size men with a sharp slingblade easily cut clean thru a 2"+ inch sapling in one swipe at knee/femur height (i've seen 3-4" taken down before) when swung at a 45 degree angle towards the ground. it's easy to recover as long as the user follows thru on the first swing and does not try to stop the blade him/herself. the slingblade does not cut across saplings well straight across, but does cut branches 1" or more if hit within 2" or so of where the branch attachs to the tree. i'm sure a straight across blow would crush a skull, but it's not as easy to recover from that type of swing as a angled swing if the target is missed.

it takes a while (like weeks) to dull the whole blade on wood, even if it's getting in the dirt, so unless one is incessantly hitting rocks or wire, it should stay sharp for 20-30+ zombies b/c the blade is 12" long and there's 2 sides, although i've never had to use one or tested on bone....yet...

my powdered choice would be an automatic or bolt .22 magnum (~300' range) with a see thru scope, hollow points and clips, but even a .22 long rifle (~100' range) with the same scope setup and hollow points would suffice for brain bangin. i'm sure guns is for another thread.

lol long post is long.

Oh sling blades huh? =^_^= I've never actually seen one before (or at least haven't recognized it as such.) Maybe I should give them a look.

... I'll still prefer axes for zombie killing though =^_~= So many different options... *Waits to see if anyone is going to interrupt him before he goes on with his usual list of different axe techniques*

Around here most people call them a Brush Axe, a hooked double edge blade about 15 inch long held into a straight long handle with a couple bolts.

filadog yes mustard and biscuits, uhmmmhummm.

that was the perfect description of it, an axe with a hook on it.

they're awesome but i wouldn't put one in somebody's hands and expect them to know how to use it but they would figure it out quick in a emergency situation...however, it can be dangerous tool if used improperly, without caution, or played with. (cut a leg off)

lol i should look at your profile history and see wtf you're talking about....u know they want you to do that thing with the list. ha!
