When in africa in order to keep ourselves safe from animals and to provide lighting we used candles, however an open candle flame will blow out quickly. if you lack metal lamp holders then the best way is to cut the top of a plastic drinks bottle and put the candle in it. Do you find this valuable?

If available, could you use a kerosene lamp which of course could pose a fire hazard more than a candle. The plastic bottle idea is great by the way. Do you find this valuable?

I think if you actually tried this the candle would melt the plastic very quickly

I have several candle lanterns that are enclosed and have a reflecter in the back. Also you want ones that have push up candle sticks which pushes the candle upward as it burns. Your candle will last much longer then with out them

I have quite a few kerosene lanterns, both ones you can carry [Railroad types] as well as taable top ones You can burn diesel or heating oil in them but will smoke more
A high end lamp like one made by Alladen are the best but I don't have one yet.

Have lots of Colman lanterns, they market ones today called duel fuel that they say you can burn regular car gas in...I've burned regular gas in old ones though and seemed to work fine so don't know

Candles are good to have but a lantern such as a kerosine or Colman is much better sourch of light and probably easssier to find fuel ffor them then it will be to find candles or make them

All these light devices can be very easly bought on the cheap today...don't think I ever paid more the $5 for a colman lantern.. and there is no reason you shouldn't have them on hand now
Do you find this valuable?
