The very first zombie

Theoretically the infection that will end the world would originate from just the 1 original zombie, what my question is, is what if you faced that first one.

The first answer in my mind, and no doubt 99% of you would be to kill it, and thereby save the world, but that would leave you guilty of murder, as authorities would hardly believe you when you say "i did it because it was trying a brain-eating zombie". so would you sacrafice your freedom to eliminate the threat before it is noticed? then suffer the consequences/

Also, again how would you react to seeing a shambling, bleeding and apparently injured human walking down the street. because our natural humane instincts would be to try and help, which would end in us being emost likely bitten. How can you overcome this Do you find this valuable?

Kill it, burn the body, break up the bones, bury down the old minnow trail, find the bullet and casing,(or whatever i used) melt them down, clean weapon. In my area the shot would likely be thought of as someone practicing (or clearing their shed roof) as long as there was a few more shots shortly after. However if this was a local person I would likely subdue it, and bring it into the authorities, to prove my case. Dont need him showing up on the local missing persons report.

Also, dont ask about the scenario I just layed down, I would never consider doing this to a living healthy human being, Do you find this valuable?

No, never plotted a murder before, thanks for saying its a good reply, I'm still rather shocked that I came up with it, maybe I have a darker side lol. Do you find this valuable?

if i had seen the very first zombie i would kill it and prepare my self for the coming apocalypse.........all ill need is....my sword and a jug of orange juice

serious response this time.....well if i had seen the first zombie......normally i would kill it....but if it came down to it.....i think that i would kill the thing(of course) but then i would sever the limbs and what not got to the deepest lake or river tie the limbs to a heavy rock and sink them and if they get found then i guess ill go to jail...but hey atleast ill feel like a hero Do you find this valuable?

Not sure exactly how I would *know* that this was the first zombie...

However, in theory, I would first do the usual headshot/destroy the brain. Second, I would take a decent sized sample of both brain matter and blood in seperate containers.

As many of you know, the originator of the infection is "pure" in terms of biomedical research, and hence, invaluable when researching a cure. Do you find this valuable?

I would probably shoot it in the chest if i thought it would attack me because it is a larger target and most vital organs are there, if it didn't go down the Failure to Stop drill would be used, nothing would happen (I think) if it was trying to attack me but a chest shot didn't stop it Do you find this valuable?

If it's already infected, jog a little ways away, call the cops, and say there's a crazy guy in the street. Shoot it, and when the cops come, say he attacked you. Hell, it isn't a lie. Do you find this valuable?

This idea would be good, but in Canada, wed likely still get arrested, shame... Do you find this valuable?

Shoot it dead and claim self defense. Do not mention the words zombie, undead, monster, mutant, ect. in the statement to police. Like SJ says, it ain't a lie. Do you find this valuable?

the first thing I thought of in this scenario is "what is the source?"

A single man does not become a zombie out of shear evolution. There is a source, some location in which he became infected.

If I was properly prepared, I'd capture the victim, some how, try to ID him.. maybe tie the limbs down, remove a wallet.

Once I have an ID, I could ..thorugh various means, search his residence, the workplace, the area. Any gov't facilities would be deemed for "extensive cleansing".

Now, as a civilian, I can hardly obtain the means to do any of this legally.

I'd just call the CDC up, explain that there was a dangerous individual exhibiting symptoms similar to something.
Authorities arrive, I maintain that I want proper people, like the CDC or the gasmask troops, to remove the individual.

I will then ask 3 questions:

can I trust that you gov't boys will just deal with this threat before it gets out of hand?
Will I be investigated or apprehended at all?
Should I head for the hills with my family?

You made many mistakes. The blood would get all over you. That's how they test you in shootings.

You are clearly a novice at murder. Do you find this valuable?

its called wearing two pairs of latex gloves, being prepared to spray amonia on your clothing, and being able to severely cleanse yourself.. Do you find this valuable?

Don't forget the shoes, under the fingernails, your hair, ect.

Plus, most people won't take too kindly to you shooting your gun randomly, so I'd suggest a crossbow. Less noise AND less splatter. Do you find this valuable?

if i killed someone, be they zombie or not, i'd burn everything i was wearing.

Agree, Id also scrub myself down from head to toe with the strongest cleaning solution I have once i got home, unless I kept it in my truck (might start that now), and I wouldn't even have to wear the clothes into the truck to leave because I always have an extra set of clothes in the truck. (Sweater, shirt, underwear, pants, socks, shoes/boots) Do you find this valuable?
