If I'm at home I'll board up my doors and windows, grab a gun (my dad has 30+), run upstairs and destroy the staircase(there is a ladder upstairs just encase I need to get back down for supplies) and hold out as long as I can. Since I live in a rural area with few people and many guns I should last for a long time.Since I'm only 15 I also have school to worry about, so If I'm at school I will try to find anything that could be used as a weapon then try to find my sister. Then I would try to run away from the city. If I cant find my mother or a have to leave the city immediately I have a friend just outside of the city limits that is relatively well prepared for an outbreak. Please tell me what you think. Do you find this valuable?

Cut the gun store, you have to think, in any disaster, how many other people would have the same idea, and rush to steal the guns, and what are the odds that the (extremely) well armed gun store owner will just kneel over and give them away, I say next to none. As for stealing a car, I don't advise that either, it would be better to walk out of the city, than rely on a car you don't have (your in a rural area, so all you have to do is be smart, and evade rather than head directly into a conflict. How well prepared is your friend? Can his preparations also afford to sustain you, your sister, and your mother, as well as any other survivors that may have followed you, not to mention, whether you like it or not, will your mother even listen to your opinion on where to go. Do these guns have enough rounds to last against your local population (I generally believe that the minimum would be 3 rounds for every person locally (this doesn't work for cities however), but more is probably better), and do you have enough non-perishable food to last for an extended period of time (minimum in my eyes is 3 months worth, 3 days for a BOB however) and do you have enough water to survive that long (1 liter a day, per person, minimum, again minimum of 3 months worth in my eyes). Oh, and while I'm at it, welcome to the ZSDW. Do you find this valuable? |

For one, you probably won't be able to find any. Two, you'd be leaving someone else to die. Ditch the gun store idea, if you walk in durring the middle of a panic planing to loot you likely be either A. Killed by the mob of other people that had that idea. Or B. Shot by the store owner trying to keep looters out. Do you find this valuable? |

Are you going to take food and water upstairs before you destroy the stairs? Are your dad's guns locked up, and do you know where the key(s) or combination is? Why destroy the stairs did you read that in a certain book? Do you find this valuable? |

Don't forget to mention to your folks often that if "something" should come up, then you will head to your friends house. Your folks may not have a plan, but since you do they should be aware of it. This way, they have a chance of meeting you if you had to split without them.Applause to you for planning to get your sister. Do you find this valuable? |

I live 45 minutes away from my parents so stealing a car is a need idea to me. (I don't own 1 so yea) I live in vergennes, Vt which is the smallest city in the US and my parents live in Essex Jct, VT. Once i got to them; i pray to god their alive all the food would be brought up stairs along with knives for weapons. Take apart to stair case and wait out the panic for about 2 weeks. Thus begins survival of the fitest.

There is so much talk about disassembling and destroying staircases. Has no one even guessed at how much trouble a living human would have if only a piece of plywood were put over the top of the stairs? Not even a full sheet, just 36 inches is an effective barrier.Want more? tack a furring strip on one side(s) of the stairwell and you can have that full sheet supported. It takes 6 nails maybe and 2 minutes compared to an hour of bashing and smashing. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
