Explosions To Follow. Limbs a few seconds thereafter. And schools will be a bad place to go. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

I doubt that any High School age students would have the discipline to form a stable group (especially with gender mixing).Even if you had a very dominant Alpha, eventually he'd be tempted to shoot one of the other survivors to maintain control over the group, that act would cause a schism in the group and most likely lead to their downfall. Not to mention schools are not good places to bug in. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

That's your choice, you can't make that decision in advance, it depends entirely on the circumstances at the time.

If you find a bunch of kids today acting like a malitia you should stay the heII away. Those are the dumb asses that get people killed, and if you see them carrying guns and explosives, you should talk to you parents about going to a different school.

"so if i met a students militia, should i make a contact or keep out the perimeter ?"For what it's worth... when I first started thinking about this stuff, I thought about schools too. On first glance they seem like an excellent location... but in a nutshell: -They're usually public property, and already a designated gathering area...meaning you will have no control in an already established setting, if that's fine with you, then great. That will mean a likely forfeiture of weapons, and some supplies. Skipping ahead, let's say the situation has deteriorated to the point that government, and order no longer matter; or that there are not enough survivors to retain any established order : -Others will likely already be there, and then you are looking at potentially the same result, with less noble intentions. Or they won't let you near/or it for fear of contamination. For the sake of continuing, let's say that's not the case either; and you get to an unoccupied, undamaged, unlocked school... which is the best possible scenario: 1 out of 1 found this valuable. "so if i met a students militia, should i make a contact or keep out the perimeter ?" Contd: - Brick is strong, but windows aren't. Schools have many, many windows, and even the most "ghetto" of schools have nothing stronger than plate glass in them. Making your entire first floor potential breach points. I can skip ahead, and will allow that you somehow had the time, manpower, and materials to barricade all the windows: -Schools are required to have a minimum of 4 public entrances and exits. These doors are not designed to be extremely secure. If you notice, most are the same plate glass doors as mall entrances. That's 4 more breach points. I'll allow that you barricaded these also: -Clearing a building to assure your safety, and peace of mind is a must. Let's say there are 30 classrooms, a cafeteria, a kitchen, a metal shop, a wood shop, teacher's lounge, gym, 2 locker rooms, a janitor's room, a mechanical room, an office area with 4 more offices inside it, and a library, just for sake of illustrating a point, and to simplify it, it's a single floor. That's 46 separate areas that need to be cleared, and done so in a manner that keeps any from slipping past you as you clear. This takes a group of 6 armed and trained individuals, broken into (2) 3 man groups roughly 25 minutes; if it's a bug-in scenario, not a sweep and clear. Do you have 6 people with you? Are they armed? Are they experienced at all? If the answer to any of those is "no", how long would it take you, and would you be able to do it effectively at all? -Once cleared, you will need to seal off areas that are not in use, as you can't cover all possible breach points. Even then you will likely need to monitor 10-15 breach points. Can you do that effectively? If not, being you've barricaded everything, how do you escape in case of a breach? 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Contd:-The amount of food seems appealing. Most schools carry more perishable food than non perishable. Even if you have a "high budget" school with a geny; how long will it last? If it's even accessible to re-fuel, how would you? This is just scratching the surface. I'm sure there are links I could have posted that cover this and more in a better manner; but nobody reads them anyway. Not trying to be a jerk, just stating the obvious... lol Do you find this valuable? |

Our local school is a Civilian Action location, meaning for anything from a fire, tornado, or any type of major situation any one in the area can go to the school for shelter, food, and medical aid. Which means 1. you won't be in charge, 2. there will be a lot of people there. The last tornado warning there was at least 70 people there. Do you find this valuable? |

Actually, with such a alrge building, you would ideally leave behind a 2-man team to watch over a secured area, as just clearing three rooms at a time won't handle keeping all of those rooms and areas secure.

So what you guys are saying is that simply being under a certain age means that you will be a complete danger to anyone around you come a disaster?Guess I bought my rifle just to opt out of life when SHTF rather than defend myself with it. Do you find this valuable? |

"carrying some firearms, explosive or whatsoever ?"This is the part that most of us are thinking that these kids are trouble. Any young people carrying explosives or whatsoever (what ever that means), is looking for trouble. Schools are gathering points for disasters, so there will be more than just this one group heading there. And nothing about any adults, so all of the adults are dead and only a group of high scholars are alive. Do you find this valuable? |

Good luck forming a "school militia" in this day and age and trying to bring guns and explosives to school. You'll be dead or imprisoned by the end of the school day. Back to reality... 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |
