zombie fiction idea
Apr 11 2011, 10:47 PM EDT | Post edited: Apr 12 2011, 8:59 PM EDT
Ok, I've been sitting on a plot for zombie fiction for awhile because I wanted to create it myself but I suck at writing, so im going to give it away for the pros to write a kickazz story. Here goes:

A fanatical eco terrorist group wants to reduce the human population to "a sustainable" level, so they want to kill everyone on earth to "save the planet". So they create a zombie virus, not to spread it around and kill people....no they are smarter than that. They know how fast the governments reacted to H1N1 and their plan would fail and the virus would be tracked back to them. Instead, they create a superflu and spread it around. Once a global pandemic and hysteria is created they arrive to "save the day" with a" vaccine". But its not a vaccine, its the zombie virus. Government officials, military personel, and healthcare personel, will be the first to receive the "vaccine" so no one will be there to stop their plan. And no one will be there to figure out that the vaccine is causing the zombie virus and not the superflu, so everyone else will be panicing to get their vaccine.

Anyone who refused to get the vaccine will be killed by zombies or the choas that ensues.

The reason they don't just release a super flu ia because scientists know that there are a certain amount of people who will be immune to any pandemic, but no one is immune to being eaten.

So what do yo all think?

Pretty cool idea. Very "tin_foil_hatish" but I like it. So how would they soread it around? Would they get a few volunteers to catch the super flu and cough on people at an airport? Who would be the heros? And what happens to the eco freaks, do they get eaten too? Do you find this valuable?

Tell that to Johnathon Maberry, the zombies in his stories are thought out down to the last detail, and the stories can hold you better than super glue to the pages of the book, hell, the terrorists in that series continue to modify the virus, and even make a version that gets spread amongst themselves which allows them to maintain they're intelligence, granted zombies only occur in the first Joe Ledger book, but he has a few other zombie-only series.

Sometimes, a thought out story can work better than pure blood and guts to draw a crowd.

On topic: great story idea, I like the fact that the population is already weakened by this super-flu, and then the virus is added as a false vaccine.

I wouldn't mind trying my hand at writing it, it wouldn't be so bad to have multiple people write their own rendition of the story. Because in a plot such as that, it leaves it open to multiple character views.

So far, I've got the point of view of one of the terrorists, whom I've named mark, and a survivor named Steve in the town of Dryden, Ontario, one week after the terrorists "vaccine" hits the world. The infected involve slow movers, with a handful of fast movers. I intend on having these characters cross, but I have to work out a few details before they do (namely how they will cross, and how the characters will react to each other). i would like to run with a traditional "average unimportant guy discovers said conspiracy and is the only one who is willing and able to stop it" theme that we have seen a dozen times.

i have thought it through dozens of times, but im only good at the synopsys part and not putting it all together with charater development and dialog

Well, Steve is an average unimportant guy.

Sadly, dialog is my weak point as well, but I'll push through that.

The zombie vaccine idea is horribly overused, but if you can do it creatively, why not? Do you find this valuable?

I would be interested in writing something that took place in the aftermath, say 20 years later. I would be sure to tie in the orginal idea. If you want to check out my stuff for refernce it is on my profile. This is the story I submitted for the now dubunked 2010 fiction contest.
