Something that's been ticking me off.

I've noticed that an overwhelming amount of people underestimating the strength of the human skull. I've heard people say that they'll jam writing utencils through the dome, or throw darts or knives, or maybe even bash it open with a stick or board.

But, in light of these recent claims, I decided to take matters into my own hands. First, I stabbed myself in the side of the head with a sharp pencil. The pencil broke. I then moved onto a plastic ballpoint pen. It also broke. Neither even made me bleed. Let's see you get those all the way though to the brain.

I then moved onto the throwing objects. Obviously, I'm not just going to let people throw sharp objects at me, even I'm not that dumb. So I decided to smash a 1" thick slab of plywood over my head, then a cedar 2x4(taking care of the board problem as well). I then had my friends and I throw crap at it to see the effect:

Darts: Glanced off both. One guy made it stick for about 2 seconds, before it fell.

Knives: much more effective than darts, actually got a few sticks into it. Still wouldn't trust my life on it, plus many bounces off(it was 1:2 between sticks and bounces, bounces winning majority).

Shurikens from the mall(to suit where most of our ninjas come from) : They broke. The spikes literally snapped on impact. Bad juju.

Tomahawks: it was difficult for most of us, and we couldn't really "barrage" the targets as much as everything else for fear of losing a limb or two, but the penetration was still the best.

i think this proves that people that stab themselves in the head with pencils and ink pens have thick skulls

Can't wait to hear about your testing to see if .22s bullets really bounce around inside a skul.....l

You DO mean that the darts and knives and stuff were thrown at the plywood and the 2x4 right? Reasoning that if your skull has already been proven stronger than the plywood and the 2x4, by virtue of you having broken them over your head, then anything that can't penetrate the plywood or the 2x4 also wouldn't be able to penetrate your skull? Something like that? Do you find this valuable?

"Did you eat paint chips as a kid?"
That's what we had before vending machines!
Uh, I highly doubt you would smash yourself with wood...
And as for darts, uh, I stick them in pretty easily on wood(I use it as a backstop for my dartboard, you know, in case we suck so much and miss).

I think a person who stabs himself in the head with a ballpoint pen to prove a point is dumber than a person who dares to think that they can kill a zombie with throwing darts or knives at it.

My aunt threw a dart and it ended up in the wall 90 degs to the dartboard...it hit the wood casing and it glanced off

Perhaps you should've just asked someone.

Besides, the skull kinda has four key weaknesses: Eye sockets and temples.

TK... Man, I am a fecking coroner... if you want to know the answer to question like that, you can ask me... Other wise, Fecking use an analog. I know you are a big strong kid, but this was dumb... what if the noobs had been right, then you would be down some IQ at the very least. At worst you would have died a horrible death from inter-cranial infection.

Seriously, this is not anything I will participate in anymore. I don't want to encourage this behaivior in anyway. I wash my hands of this thread even.

I dont remember anyone advising the use of throwing knives against zeds, well except dono, but that was a joke, i hope. Throwing knives are tools of distraction against a living human target, to use them against the undead forr the purpose of killing them is plain stupid.

Aside from that, i think its not the brightest thing youve done if you actually tried it on yourself, in fact, i dont think it would be a bright idea to try them on any living person.

"...Throwing knives are tools of distraction against a living human target..."
Using a deadly weapon in a deadly force encounter for a "distraction" seems a bit silly to me.

Just trying to avoid another debate about the effectiveness of throwing knives, this wiki has seen it before, and i dont think it deserves to be brought back.

Countering one fallacious argument with another is hardly the appropriate course of action if your goal is to avoid debate.
