Hi all, sorry for the delay...here's March and April together : )March. 2011 - Purchased Items: Jacket (Hooded, "Weather Resistant") $10 (or scrounge the Jacket and put your money into April's purchases.) April. 2011- Purchased Items: Pocket AM/FM Radio (3x AAA Batteries) $10 Alternative Purchases: Ear Buds $5, Extra AAA Batteries $5 (if you had the Jacket) Free (scrounged) Items: Ear Plugs (cheap set that only one ear works, but it's the mono side.) Survival Ideology: Batteries - Commonality or Availability? April has a new topic "Survival Ideology" section on batteries. i think that batteries would become a pritty good trade item, after meds and weapons, for flash lights and as you said radios. im lucky cus in my zombie plan the building has solar pannels and a small wind turbine so i would be able to use rechargable batteries ^_^

Now the link to those rechargers made from solar lights, OTOH, those are ingenious. Do you find this valuable? |

Found items (scavenged):mini bible (I took my full size one out to save weight, I forgot I had this little one) 3 - 12 hour survival candles. {added to BOB} Bought: March - 50 pack eye glass wipes $ 4.99 April - 30 pack of AA batteries, for my flashlights $6.99 30 pack AAA batteries, for radio and etc. $6.99 {on sale at Big Lots} Do you find this valuable? |

I already have a jacket in my BOB and several in the closet. I also have a radio in my BOB and 3 radio/flash lights/cell phone chargers that are powered by crank, solar, and batteries in my house and one in my shed. I don't see the use in buying any more? But I did need some fresh batteries. Do you find this valuable? |

Okay, I can get the jacket and the ear buds and an AM/FM radio for less than 10$ all together, which is cool. The only problem is that the radio is a digital model (no analog tuner or external antenna). I'll probably go ahead and get that one anyway, because it's only about the size of an MP3 player and it might be handy to have, but I'd like to get a model like the one pictured as well. These will cost me $20 or more retail, so I'll probably be getting that off ebay. Never did find the net from February's list. Edited to add: BTW, looking forward to May's list as well. Edited May 8th: The place that has the cheap windbreakers doesn't have them in stock right now, so I'll be getting that a bit later on. I went ahead and ordered the radio from ebay, but I didn't see any point in buying the earbuds until it gets here, so I'll buy those when the radio shows up. Actually, the mini digital radio comes with earbuds anyway, so two items for the price of one... bonus. LOL Do you find this valuable? |
