Im 13(almost 14 in 6 more months) In my house we only own Kitchen knives and 1 hammer. We have ramen noodles and about 8 bottles of water, since i cant make a gun :P nor can i purchase one i would most likely be defensless, most people own dogs(can they be infected)and there old people :P.Theres a local church(really near)that has a hose which owns tons of water.and for god sake THERE IS NO NEAR GUN SHOP!,i would try to barracade by using doors, using the tub, breaking down some of the walls and use pipes to fight a littile while but im sure as hell am not being a hero,i barely wieght anything(i wieght 70 pounds)but i would try to survive till winter.Theres a 60 year old woman,a men in his 50's,a 15yr old boy(my bro) a 16yr girl(my sis) .a fat women whos in her 20's(cough*fresh meat*cough) and her son whos 3,and me who is 13 :P.Then it would be easiest to stop zombies,we own a radio just in case for attacks and we could get the family...we have a corner-store but its not barracaded at all,and for god sake SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO SURVIVE,(tthe 20yr old stuff isnt important)if i was 20 i would keep a hiding spot for 6 pistols and 1 ak-47, hiking gear, some Granular calcium hypochlorite,Potassium permanganate, iodine to purify water and kill harmfull germs and some barb wire,a fence (and have secret spot if i have young kids,I would keep a long and high area of defense to travel. after this find survives(i would fking strip them down to make sure there not infected no matter how old they are) Do you find this valuable?

Don't put so much stock in weapons. Firearms are only tools; it is the prepared mind which survives. A hammer is also a tool -- you can use it to build things as well as take them apart.

You are thinking about food and water, which is good.

Being small means you won't last long in a fight, but it also has its advantages: your small body will be able to fit into places that larger bodies cannot squeeze into. This will allow you to escape easier *instead* of fighting.

Think about what your natural advantages are and plan to use them, while understanding your limitations and avoiding situations where they put you at a disadvantage.

OK!

Hello and welcome to the site, I have not seen you around before so take your time to look at around, especially at the side bar.

So Firstly, Kitchen knives will not make good weapons. Stabbings that occur using kitchen knives such as that usually end up in the knife snapping as they are not built for that purpose, the hammer might be a viable choice but you might want to stay out of range.

Going to the Church is probably a bad idea as many people will think off it as a safe haven being where you pray to God to save your life and such. You should think of staying at home for atleast a week or so so everything cleans up.

There is no need for a gunshop to be around, as everyone may flock there and try and get in to get some weapons to fend of the Zeds.

your Family isn't the best for survival (but rarely anyones family is able to be perfect for this situation). all I can say is to take into account of any prescription medicine or certain needs for the Family and see if you can accommodate them.

The Radio would be useful if you want to keep in contact with the outside world, maybe send a message. But for most of the time, it may be a good idea to just monitor the waves and not send anything out.

Since I assume you live elsewhere from the corner store you might aswell just abandon it and keep with the house. After hearing of S**t Hitting The Fan (SHTF) you would probably want to take a peek outside to see anything, And proceed to barricade the doors with furniture and such, if you don't have any wood for the windows, just keep them covered and only look out from the top windows.

Nextly you would want to fill up jugs and containers with water and just keep them around for a little supply, and take out whatever canned food you have and make a count to see how long it lasts. Any not so long lasting food you have I would suggest you eat that first to stop it from rotting...

Don't use the tub to barricade. Use it to store water.

Also, I'd not put much hope in tearing down your walls to get to the pipes if there is only one hammer.

I'm curious about why you want six pistols. I mean, I understand owning 6 but planning on using all of them seems a bit excessive.

For water purification always go with boiling if you can. It is the only surefire method to kill off everything.

Otherwise, I'd have to agree with DN.

... so you can save your canned food for longer. Telling your Family to try and keep quiet will help as to avoid unwanted attention.

I Frankly skipped the last paragraph where you stated what you would want if you were 20 because you are not 20 years old, therefore it doesn't matter.

If you get any pocket money or whatever. I'd suggest making your Self a BOB. A BOB is a Bug-Out-Bag, this is a bag that when used, should be able to sustain yourself for 72 hours (3 days atleast). This should have 3 days of water and food (Duh). and should also have any extra tools needed for survival, such as a multi-tool, fire-starting equipment. There is a page on what you should have in a BOB. Hopefully someone would be as so kind to link it :D

Lastly, this is just an optional thing, but when typing on these forums, we find it nicer to read if you structure your post and use paragraphs. It's just a minor thing and it makes your writing look Lovely!

Hope this helped Bro.

This is a guide for new site members: http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/The+Ultimate+Newbie+Guide

There's a link to a page in there that's specifically about teenage survival.

I don't know if you've done this yet, but you should talk to your family about preparing for natural disasters. That teenage survival page has tips on how to do that.

It may be helpful to discuss things like tornado/earthquake readiness, as well as fire escape/evacuation plans, meeting places in case of separation, and a family contact roster.

You can work the zombie angle into any of those plans, but you are more likely to be taken seriously if you start with the real disasters.

Don't even mention Zombies, if you do, have a BIG sarcastic smile on your face.

Work having guns into the convo using them for hunting and/or protection from those who would try to steal your supplies after a major disaster (Use Katrina as an example)

" for god sake SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO SURVIVE,"
Learn to run.

Requires no fancy gear or weapons, improves your fitness and putting distance between you and your enemies or leaving a disaster area swiftly is a fundamental survival skill .

You brother and sister could be persuaded to join you for any number of reasons.

(Edit) I suggested an escape and evasion skills page for the kids and under armed some time ago. I still think this is a good idea.

You don't need guns, if you have a good plan then you shouldn't need to fight many zombies anyway. Your defences should hold them off mostly anyway. If you are really worried about weapons then buy an axe or something. Survival gear can be bought at your age anyway (other than large knives), . The knife is the hardest to buy at your age but you should be able to get an SAK. Do you find this valuable?

For most families in the general suburban demographic, even that is a far-fetched idea, one that could possibly get you some 'Will-I-go-Columbine?' psychology tests.

Just say you're interested in shooting sports. Find a nearby smallbore rifle or shotgun club, go a few times, and 'see how you like it'. Do this for awhile, and eventually most parents will warm up to you being interested in guns, and won't be too surprised when you ask for your own. This is how I played my cards. I joined this site with no firearms. Now my dad pretty much gave me his two shotguns and a .22 semi-auto, and I bought myself a .30 caliber bolt action. No crazy looks, no suspicion.

Bahahahahhaa Church.... You would get trampled by people putting false hope in nothing to save their lives... Also, you're NOT 20. You're about my age. My plan doesn't involve fighting. Plans really shouldn't. Survivors live longer than Slayers.
Also, these plans aren't JUST about zombie survival... It's survival in general..
And if you weigh 70 pounds at age 13.. There's something wrong.Gain a little weight, and modify your plan.

Unless the lad is 3 foot high he's got the build of a marathon runner, play to your strengths.
