Let's play "I made this"!
May 9 2011, 9:33 PM EDT | Post edited: May 9 2011, 9:33 PM EDT
So, in light of Zombie month, I'm deciding to roll out our brand new, fabulous game "I made this". In it, contestants must submit photos of weapons that they made. Winner gets a photo compliment, so lets get STARTED!

The first is an old class favorite, weighing in at under a pound and scaring zeds back into their graves for almost a year now, it's TK's warhammer!

One hour. One whole hour and not a single submission. Filadog, T-Rat, SovietPrince, anyone?

I really don't want to win this one.

Picked up a spike tomahawk head a few months ago and I'm currently making a handle for it from desert ironwood... not done yet, but does it even qualify? I didn't make the head, but it's useless without a handle.. desert ironwood is incredibly hard, heavy and dense and loaded with silicates, so it's slow going.... Beautiful wood, and damn near indestructable, but it's playing merry he** with my cutting tools... forged tool steel just gets dull. I need carbide tools to make real progress.

Edit: I have a few spike tomahawks, and I have to make a correction.. it's actually a reproduction of a British Boarding Axe... 4" wide blade with a wicked spike on the backside. A bit larger and heavier than a sleek tomahawk, but when you connect, things tend to fly apart.

Unless I'm going to simply pound a nail through a board, it takes a bit more than an hour. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

My latest fabrication, a bed for my not-so little brother.

It's made out of 14 gauge square tubing and held together by 1/4 grade five bolts. It doubles as a jack stand for trucks.

Hah! Your regular nailboard is nothing against TK's warhammer! TK's warhammer has ablolutely no risk of it's nail coming out the other end, allowing me to safely hit harder objects with more force. Do you find this valuable?

Also, yes you can use pre-existing weapons, no you can't use weapons that aren't finished yet. Do you find this valuable?

Are you only looking for 'offensive' weapons or do my gardens count as a weapon? While they are a fundamental aspect of my defence (resistance is fertile) They are never ever finished : )

Heres a Spike Axe and the Machete I made

http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/2300199/aview/1305018815180_001.JPG

Made the Spike axe out of a broken carpenter hammer and the machete an old buggy spring and a piece of Elk Antler

Heres a knife I made for a girlfriend of mine last year

http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/2300199/aview/MVC-006F.JPG

Made it out of a rusty file and a broken table leg with wire taken from a motor I found in the dump.
She is into Indian stuff and has a Raven design tattooed on here arm. This is sort of a Northwest Indian type of knife

Close up of the carved Raven handle

http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/2300199/aview/MVC-005F.JPG

I made the Eyes from abalone shell which was what they often used

What can I say? This is a weapon made from leftover pipe and fittings. If you can un-screw a jar of peanut butter you can make something similar.

Give me a week or two and I could probably come up with something that actually takes a little skill. I have none of the metalworking skills that Filadog or Brandon have. I have much respect for both these member's abilities.

It's not much, but here's a machete i did some work on. Lengthened the handle and wrapped it with some leather. Ground and tapered the tip to more of a thrusting point. It still chops good, even minus the extra weight at the end.

So far, it's filadog's spike axe against bill's machete. Oh, and dono's coming in, things are about to get messy!

The machete does have a wicked saw on the back, along with a nice point. Could you guy's perhaps take pictures of tests you ran on them?

A good weapon is your mind. I remember reading a book on it, and there IS in fact a way to make your mind do things (such as make a small fire, or sparks). To do so, it'd take a lot of mental training and concentration, but, the mind is able to change molecules to make something warm/hot with precise concentration or something like that. I am going to enter my mind into this contest, even though I didn't create it, I have worked on it, so I hope that counts. I also have no link to it, but, I think we can overlook that.

I don't have a pic of my maul or any of my weapons.... but I made the helm in my profile pic.

It's 14ga steel for the cap itself, the frame is 12 ga, the chainmail is also 14 ga. The plume is homebound horsehair and removable.

Took me about 4 days of actual work across two weeks. I tested the design, with no frills, with a wood axe(single bit felling axe, jersey), a two-handed sword, and a sledgehammer. Obviously, the sledgehammer was too much, but it held up to the other two pretty well.
