killing zeds
May 21 2011, 11:18 AM EDT | Post edited: May 21 2011, 11:18 AM EDT
just had a thought the other day, it hurt like heck :)
alot of people on this site when talking about the killing of zeds always think about penetrating/crushing the skull to destroy the brain yet it seems to me if you could sever (if that's how you spell that) the spinal cord the brain couldn't send signals to the body killing the zombie. any thoughts?

It would more likely paralyze the zed, not kill it.
It could still be a threat if it you didnt fully sever the spinal cord.

Implying that a paralysed zombie is any danger.

Also, depending on where you hit the spinal cord, it would take out anything that is lower than itself, so a neck shot would kill it or leave the head munching at air, a lower abdomen would knock out only the legs leaving a crawler

It can moan and attract other zombies. And then there's that ******* who will stick his finger in it's mouth to see if it will still bite.

Although it is less danger as it cannot move as quickly, if at all, it can still bite you if you forget about it.

Various movies have depicted severed heads of zombies as still functional. Thus they are an environemtal hazard in that they can't come get you, but you can always trip over one.

Then there's the one zombie in Land of the Dead whose head was hanging by what looked like the spinal cord. It looked headless until it flicked its head over it's body and bit someone. That's kinda over-the-top though, even for zombie lore.

Well, a scientifically created zombie could have the ability to regenerate (i.e. reattach a spinal cord.) or something like that.

More effort, compare your vertebrae to a skull, if both will achieve the same objective why not go for the easier route and aim for the skull?

One just needs to look at how things kill us in the wild, animals go for babies heads not that meddlesome backbone.

Trolls are like 5 year olds. They're meant to be seen, not heard.
