Y run .

Y should u run from a zombie when u can jump in Ur car and drive. i already know about every one hitting the road to keep moving but there ways to be safe while doing it. 1) why do u always have to drive on the road, truck and jeeps have 4x4. Use it.2) in the front of my truck i have brush guards it helps prevent damage 3) the faster u go the farther u fly when tiring to miss traffic and hit a phone pole. and remember your not the only one hitting the roads so if u can wait at home as long as u can 0  out of 3 found this valuable. While I anticipate this turning into a two-sides flame war, welcome and thanks for the input.

This point has been brought up before and as is the usual outcome, about half involved defend vehicles as a potent resource after SHTF and the other half prefer ChevroLegs.

Both groups defend very valid points (vehicles can carry more, but walking requires no gas, etc) but both groups are also populated with mewling mall-ninjas and COD commandos that discredit the very keyboard they type with, thereby adding fuel to the flames and food for the trolls.

I will say I prefer six tires and a big Cummins over my boots any day, but I recognize the difficulties in driving, namely procuring fuel. Diesel engines increase fuel availability, but you still have to know where to look .

Best o' luck

here are reasons i think people figure vehicles wont work in all area's and as to why other means of transportation is mentioned

1.)rivers and streams(your vehicle isn't a carboat)
2.)rocky and clifflike terrain
3.)brush is to thick and cant pass through(ramming through it isnt a good idea..might be a large tree on the other side or a deep ditch)
4.)deep ruts and slick terrain(dont care how many wheels you have if you dont have traction you're not moving)
5.)large trees close together(you're not gonna knock down a huge tree and if they are to close together you cant drive around them w/o getting stuck)

In winter more 4x4 vehicles are needing to be rescued than two wheel drive. Why?

Because 4x4 does not mean that (a) the car will be able to go anywhere off road (b) the driver has the skill to drive off-road.

Potholes, sharp objects, grounding on hillocks, stuck in mud and sand, the reasons for a 4x4 becoming a ton of immobile metal are plenty. Care needs to be taken when going off road. The route should be familiar, the weather prepared for.

After a story from a wise man about a 4wd and that making you hotheaded and reckless as compared to a 2wd and remaining cautious, I'll stick with my current vehicle. Do you find this valuable?

Having 4WD doesn't get your truck stuck. Being an idiot gets your truck stuck.

I've gone through one too many snowstorms in a 2WD car, and I'll never go back. I love having 4WD.

First off welcome to the site.

Well when you are driving people have a bad habit of not paying to much attention to what is really going on around them. They pay attention the road and obstacles but they don't look around them. Lets say you are driving and paying attention to the road but on the sidewalks zombies are massing you are driving into a trap. You run out of fuel. You are now in a situation where you have no idea what is going on around you because you have been driving in a noise canceling loud vehicle. If you were on foot you would be able to hear and see what is around you then you would be able to react better like hiding or running in the opposite direction.
Vehicles have to be maintained with motor oil which is even harder to find than fuel. You also need parts.
Your body repairs itself and all it needs is food and water.
If you are extremely out of shape a vehicle might be your only option because if you are on foot firearms will only be a last ditch option and if you can't outrun a zombie than you are going to be fighting constantly.
