the way i would survive
Jun 1 2011, 12:27 AM EDT | Post edited: Jun 1 2011, 12:27 AM EDT
you really don't want any other people in your house in less you make quaritine area(a place where you stay if you have a diesease or risk) but you need to board up your house and leave an open little space to shoot the zombies. i would but propane tanks out to shoot when zombies come. always have gas hidden somewhere so looters( people who break in and steal your supplies) don't get it, the reason you would wanna do this is because if you needed to escape you could. always wear a approtiate clothing like masks, gloves, long sleeved shirts, blue jeans, boots with your jeans tucked in them. ammo, water, and food are the most important resources.
i hoped this helped you

... it appears that someone thinks that the looters won't kill them in their sleep and then steal everything.. Do you find this valuable?

1) if you leave an open space I will climb in your house and steal your stuff.
2) If you leave propane tanks outside I will steal them
3) I'm pretty sure i know what looters are

One propane tanks should not be used for that and flames aren't that affective against them

Two Gas is't the only thing looters would steal

Three learn how to spell and just write recommending this post getting locked.

Darn you guys beat me to it. Propane is much more valuable in its natural state than as an explosive. Plus without an explosive device attached to them they can be a little hard to light with just bullets.
Why would you want to leave a spot open to kill the zombies why not fortify the crap out of your house then lay low. Always have an escape route.
It looks like you are a noob so please read the guide for noobs.

Have you ever shot a propane tank?

Even with tracer rounds, it's not an explosion as much as something that could set clothes and hair on fire. Maybe.

Without tracers, you just get a lot of hissing gas.

Life is not a video game.

Relax guys.

This guy is obviously new, and needs to learn. If he's pounced on, like we have a habit of doing (yes I'm to blame too) then we just turn another person away.

@bigd730:
Check out "The Panic" and a few other introductory threads (Someone else post them, I'm on my iPhone and can't take the time to search right now). Read up on some of the more lengthy threads and learn from them. I can pretty safely say that anything you've thought of has been discussed at one point or another. Learn from everyones input and contribute where you can. I wish you luck and hope you stick around.

And here is the mythbusters ruining the propane idea
http://mythbustersresults.com/episode95

Please.... please... don't rely on anything you saw in a movie or video game till you research it. You see, physics don't apply in video games or movies, unless the story calls for it.

Welcome to the site, please be aware we are kinda serious about survival (not so much zombies) so please research and think your ideas through very carefully, and expect to have your ideas picked apart. This is not out of maliciousness, so much as it's a safety thing, bad ideas can get survivalists killed... So we try to make sure we don't use bad ideas.

I say it too, though... so I didn't think twice till you asked.

I thought it was a new thing, so many people say it (Not to be racist but they are usually black, so I always thought it was a "gangsta" term)

This made me smile. I forget sometimes that a lot of people only a few years younger don't have a clue who Bozo the Clown, Warren G., Arnold from Green Acres or Molly Ringwald are. I miss my 20 lbs boom box. :)

It originally was I guess... but it became mainstream slang in the 90's and some of us old people still wield it well.

@unassigned- I was chuckling the whole time I wrote it. I also <3 Molly Ringwald.

Meh, I never was a big Ringwald fan. Her acting was okay, but she was overrated IMO. I woulda preferred to see Mia Sara in many of Ringwald's role.

And I agree with y'all: I reference "old" things all the time. You'd be surprised at the number of peoplennot familiar with "wax on, wax off."
