Are they a fashion thing or are they SHTF bags?

For "fun", sure they are all fine for what they are.

For actual use, go to LAPolice Gear and get this bag:

http://www.lapolicegear.com/jumbo-bailout-bag.html

It's durable and fits more in it than the pictures can do it justice. I use it as my short term go bag in my trunk in case I'm called back to the station and can't afford to run home beforehand. Could also double as a get home bag, or even a range bag. Even still, it's a great bag and you get a lot of space and durability for the price.

Maxpedition, 5.11, and BLACKHAWK! gear make great bags, and whoever made my Medium Ruck. Which is more of what the Assault Pack SHOULD have been in the first place. Do you find this valuable?
