The way I see it, while slightly impractical, the BAR would be a fine weapon for post z-day. Its rugged: rugged enough to be used in vietnam in the early fifties, as well as the pacific in the forties, and its not chambered in a rediculous round. .30-06 is pretty easy to find. If you got one of them M1918A3's by Chicago Arms, or even one of the original ones with the semi auto option, it would make it even better. Of course the A3 is pretty much just a semi auto .30-06, but it would work, wouldn't it?1 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

Not to mention that older weapons are typically more particular about what kind of ammo you use. I don't know for sure about the BAR. I like the Idea, but I don't think it's gonna be the end all of zombie weapons. Oh and BTW, search the site before making a thread... There is usually already 20 of any gun related thread you could think of. Welcome abord though. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

For gods sake man, at least he didn't post a Raid walmart/ steal guns plan. He has a fair point, the BAR is a decent weapon. It also was carted accross thousands of miles and used in many situations in WWII, not just emplacements. Do you find this valuable? |

And the 240G and Mk-19 and M-2 all have been carted on the backs of military across a desert, still dont see those used in a mobile combat unless emplaced or mounted, Employ a weapon system with in it optimal Capabilities for optimal results. Holds true with Humans as well. Do you find this valuable? |

If you're going to buy a BAR, buy the semi-automatic hunting rifle with the same name. It'll hardly set you back as much and it's designed for long-range hunting.

And as for any weapon of this class, you better be prepared to drop gold bars out of your ass, Class III weapons are expensive as hell. Even the semi-auto copies are several thousand dollars. You could buy a top-of-the-line AR, or a SCAR, for half the price of those things.Don't even humor us by saying you'll find one, either. Do you find this valuable? |

Years ago I had an itch to get a BAR Monitor, this was the shortened lightened version that was marketed toward civilian sales. didn't make many and I never did find oneThe guy I ended up getting my Maxim gun had a regular Bar 1918A2 and we shot it some. Was a fun gun to shoot and more accurate then you would think. Was heavy of course but I could see how it would be an effective weapon I think the British BREN is probably a better gun though, changable barrel and larger mag A registered BAR will probably set you back close to $20,000 now I think, a BREN about $27,000 or more Do you find this valuable? |
