Welcome to the site.

May I give some advice? Don't base all of your survival rules on a comedy film. I'd look around the site, read some pages, and start thinking of an overall plan that fits you.

Zombieland was funny! But we only have a vague idea of what real zombies might be like. If their "fast" zombies I'll get a sailboat and sail to remote islands
If their slow zombies then I'll take chances and search for other survivors to travel with.

Well, see, if you get a boat, do you know how to drive/sail one? If so, do you know where any islands are? Will they be habitable? Will people already be there? Will they be armed? Will they be infected?

Similarly, with the shamblers, where will you travel to? How will you sustain yourself? How will you deal with non-undead threats?

All of this you have to think about before you set off. If you wind up on a small island with a bunch of sprinting zombies, you're screwed.

Your going to be going to the places the sailboat you 'get' has charts for. Trust me, your not going to be making a safe landfall on a uncharted island, not twice anyway.

You can't read a chart? OK forget the above, you'd be lucky to make it out of the harbour ; D

[Edit] Having said that there are all sorts of boat, ship and sailing sims available, while they are nothing what so ever like sailing you can learn from them, rules of the road, signals and marks, even navigation and they will give you some idea of just what your letting yourself in for.
