My first possible "build"
Jul 4 2011, 3:11 AM EDT | Post edited: Jul 4 2011, 3:14 AM EDT
Yes, to those who guessed, I am talking about a gun, a Norinco M305 to be precise, and no, you will not convince me to change that choice.

Now, I'm not so much building it from the ground up as much as I am customizing it to suit me.
I have decided that I will most likely be looking into putting rails on the bottom, and sides, to support a light and foregrip. I will likely keep just the stock sights, however, I am open to suggestions.

This rifle is being built as it is for 3 reasons,
1- Most importantly to me, hunting.
2- Almost as important as hunting, home defence.
3- Fun, and keep in mind, I don't mind paying for the extra cost of the .308 round.

The primary purpose on creating this thread was to see folks oppinions on my decision, and if they have any suggestions.

Edit- Almost forgot, here is a link to the rifle.

How much is it? It looks almost exactly like an m14.

My only suggestion that if the gun and all its mods cost over $1500,
you should look into a Springfield M1a Socom 2

Can someone seriously ban this guy or give him a stern talking to?

This is not his first offence.

In the link he provided it states the price of the firearm at $459.95

I wish us Australians could have our semi-autos back. I really do envy you Americans.

He's had a stern talking to from SJ.

He will be taken care of. Now back to RK's kick ass build.

Me and RK are Canadians, I feel sorry for you Aussies.

RK, I can't copy the link but is this one the synthetic stock? If not I would suggest one, as for the grip, which are you getting? Do you want a short foregrip for compactness or long for more control? I have no idea where I'd find one but I want one of those Magpul angled grips mounted well foreword, I like having a long grip on a rifle for longer range shooting

Just an FYI, I'm going to be starting my SKS build sooner than expected, switching around the plan, hopefully get a glock by xmas

Yeah, its the synthetic stock. I want to get the longer grip, for control, I'm looking at this one to be honest

@Ke6n- As sharpie said, we are Canadians, and this is one gun that even the Americans can't buy (new atleast, since there is essentially a norinco import ban.). Don't matter much though because they've probably got better replacements.

I'm not going to look into a springfield, purely because I'm building this over a length of time. The rifle is only $459.95, and I would be buying that as soon as I get the money (estimated time of 2 months to aquire the money for it). I'll be ordering each individual part when I can afford them. Also, unless I buy the most expensive accessories I can find, and ones I have no use for, I doubt the price will be over $1500.

Ahh, okay, chances are I will get the longer grip for my sks too, but I was thinking about getting that one but shorter (the stubby)
Can't wait to start it

But the price is only for a limited time, you may need to save up a little longer, not much longer but still...

How many new parts are you getting? Just the few rails and grip? You getting a scope?

Another FYI about my build, I'll be getting an SKS very soon, and I'll be getting a new stock for it (standard one is too short) dads got a small red dot sight, I'll get some sort of sling for it, look into new sights for it, also look into the SKS-D mag well. Any other suggestions?

I may put a scope on it, but only if I find a scope mount which allows me to use the iron sights as well. So far, only accessories I'll be getting are 3 rails, a light, and a grip.

Was trying to reply earlier, but the power went down.
