"You ever seen what happens when you air burst a direct fire round from a 155? It's the shotgun from hell!If i remember right they're fused differently so they air burst instead of ground impact about 20-30 feet off the ground... That's basically like a giant cluster bomb dropped off a plane. Damn I was reading that article... only 200-1000 meters away? Could you imagine the noise? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killer_Junior I knew i remembered the name of it... Do you find this valuable? |

"LOL - Yeah, that might work. Not exactly what I'd call readily available though."And a fuel hog with less mobility than a M1A1 does. And then a heavy flail. And I don't ever remember one being built for the M88. Most mechanical anti-mine clearing attachments are plows or demolition launchers (breaching mortars). But hey it sounds cool lol Do you find this valuable? |

I doubt these flail vehicles would be that useful as a traveling vehicle post apoc, but I have always liked the idea of using them as an anti-zombie horde defense system. Had the idea ever since I saw some old footage of an M4 using a flail on the beaches of Normady. I thought it would chew through several thousand zombies quite quickly... It would leave a huge mess, and I would hate to have to change a track later, but it should pummel them to paste.

So I went ahead and bought a Hummer yesterday. Seriously, an h3. I'm feeling pretty good about it. It's got a lot of extras and seems pretty awesome. Wheeling report soon to come.

The H3 uses the Colorado / Canyon mini-truck chassis. I can speak from experience with a Chevy Colorado that they can handle some pretty rough terrain stock. Do you find this valuable? |

"I'd always heard that civilian hummers, for all they were evolved from military stock, weren't all that good off road. This gives one hope that the truth may, in fact, be otherwise."Every vehicle has it's limits. And most anti-Hummer people are Jeep people. A Hummer is heavier, longer, wider, with a lower ground clearance. Compared to the Jeep. But it can haul a heavier load, handle sand and snow better and is a more stable weapons platform. Plus it can handle more armor. So it's as usual it comes down to your needs and which matches them better. My dad belongs to a Jeep club and they hated Hummers. But then when I had them load the Jeeps with equal weight a Hummer is expected to carry the worthless Hummer stuff quit. They had to admit it fills certain tasks a lot better than a Jeep could. Now the H2 and H3 aren't civilian versions of a military vehicle. That is only the original Hummer and it isn't quite a true Military version. But most people will never know or care. It never leaves asphalt any ways. lol Do you find this valuable? |

I'm a GM man to the core but if i'm driving a hummer it better have been built by AM General LOL Do you find this valuable? |

Drove a civilian model and hated the changes. Old Willey's Jeep, Dodge Weapons Carrier (4 door 4X4 pickup), or a 2 1/2tn 6X6. They all would also be nice to own. Do you find this valuable? |

"The new JK-series is worlds more capable than a Willys ;)"Ya but the Willy's is red neck simple and can go into tighter places than any JK ever thought of going. Plus I can pick up a running Willy"s for around $800-1500 depending on condition and year. Plus no computerized sh*t to mess with. Did I mention simple. lol Do you find this valuable? |

"Ya but the Willy's is red neck simple and can go into tighter places than any JK ever thought of going. It's not SO much smaller than any 2DR JK can't run with it, and the decrease in power and gearing really hurt it in anything requiring more OOMPH, because it just doesn't have it. What was it at first, 60HP? Three whole gears? The carb would shoot itself in the face if you even LOOKED at a overly steep hill the wrong way. You had to tweak everything any time you changed the environment. The relatively short tires limit clearances, and the leaf springs on ALL FOUR tires limit flex. The actual original transmission was not as strong as the one introduced in the CJ-2, and they did that for a reason (selling to farmers, and the original one would BREAK when used as a farm implement) On the other hand, the JK has a larger wheelbase to create better approach, breakover, and other various angles, has larger tires stock and can support up to 33" tires on stock suspension. The JK (07-11) has 215HP, and the 12's have 285HP. They have springs and shocks on all four wheels which maximizes stock flex. Being fuel injected and computer controlled, they will automatically maintain the best fuel/air mixture for wherever you are driving, at damn near every angle but upside down. At which point you have bigger problems. The 07-11s have a 4-speed auto that overheats or a standard 6-speed, and the 12's have a 5-speed auto that is pretty damned epic. Even with a full-on EMP, chances are your modern vehicle won't even stop ;) And if it does, 99% of the time you just gotta turn the key to start it again. I'm not even thinking about the Unlimited (4DR) models, because they have all kinds of pros and cons of their own. Do you find this valuable? |
