I suppose my first question would be about the size of the lake, next would be how isolated is it? is it accessible to you? who owns the land? A forested lake would be a great spot as long as it doesn't flood, isn't right next to a city and isn't full of campgrounds.

the town is called lakeside its next to flathead lake which is large but thats not quite where i was thinking, i own land up the mountain from there. the town used to be an army base. but its heavily wooded so the material for making it fortified is already there. there is a large field across the road that would be accessible for helicopter extraction. most of the land is national forest. there are 2 small lakes within 5 miles of my location that do not flood, there is also a natural spring creek within 50 yards. there is a larger town but it is 20 miles away. and there are no "camp grounds" anywhere that i have explored up here. thanks for checkin it out, let me know what you thinkDo you find this valuable? |

Sounds like you have a prime spot. Start socking away materials on the part of the property you own, put some type of a building on it if there isn't one already to store your stuff in. You might want to look into some materials for water filtration so that your lake is actually usable water. 20 Miles from the real town seems like a good distance to me, depending on how many people actually live there. Go camp up there once you have some supplies and see what you think. It's best to at minimum camp at your BOL before you plan to use them because any correctable flaws you find are a lot easier to solve now rather than when you are going to be trying to live there on a permanent basis.
