Best place for a beginning shelter

So there are many different structures in the world. All over the place we have buildings that hold only 1 person, to buildings that can hold 500,000+ people. In the beginning stages of a zombie outbreak we'll need to hide, hide from the chaos right? So let's say you're on the mainland and have to pick a building for a couple weeks before you escape. What is the best building to hole up in in the beginning of a zombie outbreak? Do you find this valuable?

Your own home.

You know where everything in it is, you probably know the surrounding area better than someone who's not from around there, and you can make preparations ahead of time (food, water, BOB, etc) to help make your home more disaster-proof.

"Your own home."
I agree. Still, some folks live in what would be a really crappy bug in location. Next best option is a rural safehouse, but again, not everyone has access to one of those.

So if A and B are not options for you, I've been thinking lately that a good choice C would be a business office that you could somewhat prepare and that would hold no interest for the masses in a survival scenario.

Say you work at a realty company. The business is located in a two storey brick building on a hilltop. Every week you bring a couple cans of soup and a couple bottles of water to work and stash them in the ceiling of the janitor's closet. Pretty soon you'll have a well stocked location that no one else knows about and that nobody would bother to break into after Z-Day. Not an ideal shelter, but if it's better than home...

I agree with the above mentioned comments. Honestly if bugging into your own home is a no go, I'd say to try and look for something outside of population centers. I'd rather stay in drafty shack in the middle woods than live in a comfy building that's in the middle of the chaos.

Check the ceiling can handle it. Ditto hiding things in air vents or attics.
