my high school has a water tower and a recreational center across the road from my high school (Pryor.)
in the town itself there are a handful of water towers. so in theory, couldn't someone stay up there and snipe after securing the immediate vicinity, with frequent radio contact, changes in shifts, and at night couldn't you pull up the ladder and take turns sleeping?

are you saying someone should sit on top of a water tower and snipe at zombies or raiders that come for them? what would keep the raiders from sniping you off the tower? you have no cover. what good would it be to sit on the tower? you cant access the water from there, at least not the water towes im used to. if someone was waiting you out, they could wait for you to climb down the tall tower to take you out, you would be helpless while climbing down. what would protect you from the elements? what if you were surrounded my zombies?

KODY, get off the COUCH and think it through a little more

A water tower is good thinking as a resource. but very poor for a BOO (Base of operations). Posting a lookout may be a good idea, but if you have ever been up on one of those water towers you will realize just how exposed you are up there. It is a bad sniper position because after one or two shots any good sniper will reposition. A water tower only has one egress. I think if you run across a water tower when you are traveling it is a great place to crash for the night. But then move on and note it's location. Do you find this valuable?

A agree with the above statements. I hadn't been to Pryor in forever but I think I know which school your talking about.

That plan could backfire very easily. Like HR said, what's going to stop someone else from picking you off? Elevated like that with nothing to get behind you're a sitting duck.

Exposure to the elements, limited cover and no real options for emergency evacuation. Any volunteers?

Not a ringing endorsement for the bank being a safe place to be.

bank security is different than most secure places. banks are designed to keep the money safe as possible and the bank tellers, but its not absolute security since a bank wants to appear inviting and comfortable to its customers. most banks to take on REAL security since the money is insured so they arent worried about loosing it.

I assumed there would be no raiders
P.S. you could get inside of the water tower and could use a white tarp for camo

the school i'm talking about is the high school and I wouldn't use it except as a place to rest or hide in until I get a larger party of survivors, plus I would probably try to reason with the raiders, maybe fail though Do you find this valuable?

If I'm not mistaken those things get backing hot on the inside if there's no water.

BOO? white tarp isn't cover, cover will protect you from bullet, concealment will keep you out of sight
