"My ulu the most useful knife I've ever owned."
Did you make an ulu yourself Shadow? I'm really interested to find out what it can be used for?
Do you find this valuable?

An Ulu is the most useful knife ever, it is the Inuit suvival tool. An Ulu can be made of metal or even stone!!
LOL It is not a common tool so I'll plug it every time I can.

some of what you can use an Ulu for

hide preperation / scraping
Game processing tool
Fish scaling/ gutting tool
Wood splittling / branch cutting
Kitchen knife
Wood shaping/ debarking (its great for stripping birch bark)
to shave / cut hair (how it got named "the womans knife" by European settlers grrr)
to cut ice (used in igloo construction/ ice fishing/ seal hunting)
The primary tool in kayak construction
Can be used to work some stone such as soap stone in precise ways into useable pots/tools/dishes ect
Used in traditional harpoon construction

There are too many uses to list it beats the hell outta a multi tool and it is only one blade :D
I'll go outside of the normal Modern or European toolchest if I find something to be utterly useful it is one of the most versitile knives I have ever owned.

The current Ulu I use was a gift from an Inu freind of mine. I've made three or four of my own but I prefer the first one. LOL I guess I am a sentimental bastard sometimes lol.

Haha, well I can definitely understand that, if it's a gift from someone else, it's always going to be special.

That does indeed sound like an incredibly versatile knife! Do you still use it often?

every time I hunt I prefer it to game processing kits... why carry a whole bag of tools when 1 can do the same job.

I use it also to harvest birch bark, but since I gather it from dead logs you really don't need a tool to do it.
