Yet Another One Of Those Scrounging Scenarios
Aug 6 2011, 2:31 PM EDT
Okay, you and a team of five other survivers have traveled far. You have a motorcylce and a big army pack. You have two other people with the same. You are in a base where all the survivers died. You must run in, grab what you can, and run out, as zombies (living ragers) are plentiful in the area. You Find: M1 Garand 10 loaded en bloc clips 30 extra rounds .308 Winchester ammo Winchester 1200 50 rounds of 00Buckshot M1903 Springfiled 20 rounds 30-06 Springfield 10 rounds of .357 Magnum 10 Water Bottles A National Guard Backpack The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks A bipod for a rifle A can of gasoline Two cans of corn A sawed off Stoeger Coach Gun An Ithica Model 37 Stakeout Some WD40 Your favorite movie An Ipad Be practical about what you can carry. 9 out of 10 found this valuable. Do we have our gear? I'm gonna assume we do.Therefore, I'd take: Water, gasoline, backpack, WD40, corn, buckshot, .30-06 .308, and .357 ammo. All of that is pretty lightweight and could come in handy. The extra weapons would just add weight. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

give the "national guard pack" (MOLLE?) to a person that doesn't have a packand then, water, gas, possibly all of the ammo, WD-40, ZSG (need TP), and the canned corn PS, you do know the M1 Garand uses .30-06 right? 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Seeing as I live in the uk, stumbling across a load of guns would be a nice surprise. I would take the Winchester 1200 with all the ammo - I think I could fit the ammo in my coat pockets and sling the gun over my shoulder. The petrol for our motorbikes, Sling the Springfield (maybe take the bipod) over my other shoulder and dump the ammo in another pocket. Put the corn, wd40 and as much water as I could into my pack. If I still had hands free I'd probably grab the coach gun as well. Do you find this valuable? |

If i have my gear, I'll take the buckshot, the Ithica, the M1 Garand, its ammo, the bipod, the 357 ammo, the .30-06 springfield ammo, and fill my canteens with water. If my dog is with me, the rest(except for the movie ipad and ZSG(I don't need kindling)) go in the backpack on him, secured with duct tape. I hope the garand comes with a bayonet. If i'm on my own without my gear, same weapons, put water and creamed corn in the backpack on me. Do you find this valuable? |

The buckshot, 1903, .30-06 ammo (20 listed under the 1903, and the loaded En Bloc clips) Water, Coach gun, WD-40.How big is the backpack? Why would there be .308 if there is not rifle in that? same with .357? Does the 1903 have a sling? If the backpack was big, I would throw EVERYTHING in, and throw out what I didn't need/want later. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Why would there be .308 if there is not rifle in that?"according to wikipedia, some M1 Garands were made in .308. As to the rest, it's probably what the dead survivors found and thought would be useful. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"according to wikipedia, some M1 Garands were made in .308. As to the rest, it's probably what the dead survivors found and thought would be useful."I know Sringfield made some LE ones in .308, but it is WAY more common in .30-06 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I saw "extra rounds .308" and assumed the guns and clips above it were the same. Some M1 Garands were also made for the Navy in .308.

"Still, how common are they?"most military surplus would be .30-06, but there are .308s out there, or at least a quick google search makes it look like it. Those springfield armory ones aren't just LE. If you found an M1 Garand, it is more likely to be .30-06 due to the millions the military had made, but the scenario made me think that this one is .308 due to the ammo. Do you find this valuable? |

You have 5 people and 3 with motorbikes & backpacks. Take everything you have the room and people to. Issue the weapons out with apropriate ammo. Put everything else in the National Gaurd Back Pack (Alice pack assumed as above). The Ipad & favorite movie have no use in the new world. But ok they're on the list so take them. Now whats the WD40 thing, it says some. What's that part of a can or 1 can or more than 1 can. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Well I would take the The Winchester 1200 with 50 rounds of 00Buckshot The National Guard Backpack A can of gasoline Two cans of corn three of the ten waterbottles 2 x M1 clip of ammo and the WD 40 Well I would use the backpack to carry everything. Corn for food, fuel to fuel my bike the shotgun and shells for defence I always could use shells. The wd 40 because next to duct tape that is the most useful item on earth. I would leave most of the rest because it would overburden me and as I am in a danger zone I would probably want to get out. I am unfamiliar with the use of the other guns, i've only fired an M1 once or twice. A weaker weapon you can use is better than an unfamiliar more powerful one. Water I'd drink one of the there and have 2 in reseve saving the empty bottle in my bag. The two M1 clips would be taken for a possible future trade or salvage item. If I took more I would be slower, if I took everything I would die. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

There are six of us, so we could likely take it all and sort it later, but let's not defeat the scenario so quickly.Priority 1: The ammo. Hot ragers mean ammo will be king. Thankfully, I would already be packing a .308 bolt and 12g pump, so those are instantly useful without risking an unknown gun. Priority 2: Food, water, and gas. Gotta get / keep moving if in a hot zone. Priority 3: The guns. Not really much in the way of ammo for any of them, but the scenario didn't lay out what we had already. If it opens up an ammo type, even with only 10 rounds, it is still some firepower (which can be used first and discarded if a burden). Priority 4: WD40. I can't imagine we wouldn't already have some as a biker pack, but more is always useful (for the bikes and the guns). Priority 5: The backpack, assuming someone doesn't already have one. Priority 6: Brooks' piece of krap, for wiping krap from my arce, of course. Priority 7: The movie and Ipad, as they are not useful in any way - mere rubbish. Do you find this valuable? |
