My Jimmy was the worst car purchase I ever made. One problem after another. Thats why this line is phased out.

In my experience, the Blazer and its cousins haven't been too problematic, except for the fact that they go through front end parts like mad and the 4.3 will go through intake gaskets (but many GM cars do). Alternators, starters and fuel pumps fail too, but these are common things that happen on nearly all cars. The biggest problem I have with the Blazer platform is that when compared to a full-size, there isn't much you are gaining with the smaller truck. Fuel economy sucks nearly just as bad as that of a V8. They are much smaller, which may mean more nimble but also means less cargo space. You can find them on the used market cheaper than full sized suvs, but if you want a GM SUV and have the $$ I would shell out a bit more for a Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban. Do you find this valuable? |

"Early models. like anything 1995-2002.Well, some love em, some hate em. Personally, I think there's a reason why none of them are still in production, and there's a reason why Oldsmobile (along with Pontiac, Saturn and Hummer), the Bravada's builder isn't around anymore. And, there's a reason why you can get parts for any of them in any parts store. Because generally there's money to be made supplying parts for them in any parts store. Personally, I'd sacrifice the nominal V8 power (not like GM had them well tuned anyway) for a bit better economy and reliability, and look towards a Forester instead. Get one with a five speed and you can still work it and it's got all wheel drive and plenty of storage for a small ute. Do you find this valuable? |
