Bug Out Bag
Aug 17 2011, 4:19 PM EDT | Post edited: Aug 17 2011, 4:19 PM EDT
Hey everyone, there is an extremely important topic when it comes to survival. Bug Out Bags! This is what we will use when we hear on the news about a zombie attack. It will have to last about 3 days at least, until you can find more supplies. Here is my Bug Out Bag:
First-Aid Kit
Weapons (Bats, Shovels, Hammers... Will not be in bag but we will use them)
Food (Canned Food, Snacks etc.)
Water ( Several Bottles)
Blanket
Small Pillow
That's about it... What's in your Bug Out Bag?

When discussing food and water I prefer to see numbers like gallons or ounces, that way you can actually get an idea of how long it will last you. Whats in the first aid kit? Also I would add something to make a fire and something to boil water in. Maybe some rope???

Sorry, I forgot those. I will have about 5 breakfast bars, 3 cans of tuna, 2 bags of chips and crackers, 3 fruit snacks, 7 bottles of water, 1 gallon of water, 2 lighters, and 6 feet of rope. That's about all the food and stuff I would have if a zombie attack happened right now. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Spare clothes are a good thing to put in. Also hygiene stuff like soap and toothpaste are useful. You can also buy special emergency blanket things, I think they're lighter than an ordinary blanket or something.

Maybe some snare wire or fishing hooks (maybe some seeds) to help provide food when you reach your bol.

Yeah ZC, we know what bug out bags are. What's the total weight of your bag? Seems pretty heavy (for a teen girl, anyway).

Well, like they teach you when you're a kid, how about the ten essentials? You've got some already.

Map
Compass
Sunglasses and sunscreen
Extra food and water
Extra clothes
Headlamp/flashlight
First aid kit
Fire starter
Matches
Knife

EDIT: http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Bug+Out+Bags+%28INDEX%29 This is a very good place to look at other people's BOBs for ideas.

I can handle it. My guess is that it would be 15 pounds. Not too heavy. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

It's awesome stuff; I just wish it worked better as a firestarter. Baby wipes work a lot better in some roles and is generally easier to apply / carry.

A gallon of water is just over 8 pounds. You have about 2 gallons in your bag, meaning your water alone is probably 15 pounds.

actually it works pretty decent as one, you have to go somewhere with low-zero wind, put some on a rock or something, light it, then hold a stick over it , the burning alcohol in it actually gets pretty damn hot

I never knew baby wipes could start a fire. I found a box of 200 matches and some baby wipes... I also live where there are open fields of dead grass.. An idea is brewing!

So if I weigh 90 lbs.. Then I can only carry a 9lb BOB. But wait! I'm stronger then the normal child.(I must be if I'm doing back-tucks and release moves On the P-Bars.)so I wonder if I could up that to like 12 pounds... 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I don't know why but for some reason my eyes refuse to take in anymore information past this point :(

Dear Therosa,
People here will still be your friend even if you don't have a "Military Grade Machine Gun", We however hate liars...

In regards to your "real" BOB:
Drop the golf clubs, your not Tiger Woods. Get yourself a bat and swing away Merrill.
