New Testament?
Aug 18 2011, 4:26 PM EDT
I don't kow if you are like catholic or something, but why do you pack this? In a bug out bag that is supposed to be lightweight???? I don't see the "usefulness" of this, and you could trransfer the telephone numbers on a normal piece of paper and laminate the paper so it becomes water-resistant.

Forgive me... =-_-= But I can't control what is about to come out of my fingertips...Toilet Paper! =^_____^= No sorry, really =O_O= as for usefulness I doubt that having such a thing would really get in the way all that much and if it's important enough to the person carrying it to take it with them, then I'm sure it would help their sanity. =^_^= I personally don't have one but I'm sure that Toxic's back isn't going to be any worse for wear because he was carrying the new testament with him, and I'm sure he'll feel better while being plucked up from his life and set on the move. Besides, if you're in a Christian area it may come in handy during social situations. =^_^= 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

It's a pocket New Testament... You guys have seen those right? They're ridiculously small and lightweight. So much so that it doesn't realistically weigh him down at all.As for why he's carrying it, that's his business. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Oh, like the ones they give out on campuses, man I've seen some crazy pissing matches break out over those. =^_^= In that case the mental, hygienic and social benefits would likely overshadow the negligible weight even if the carrier wasn't Christian.

Maybe but I am not christian and I think it's deadweight even if it's lightweight and can do toilet paper, tell me other reasons why I should carry a bible. And why carry a bible wehen I can carry my little first aid book, or even a book about the human body, or one of my class books (surgeon is my job, so I have good books on surgery technques and other things). This could help me save your life if I was to forget something. A new testament? No.

I have Bibles at my BOL, so I probably wouldn't carry one. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

@donovanFirst, if I am in a christian area and they want me like to show them I am christian to pass the area ( lets say that...) I will have 3 things to do: 1:unsheath the katana (I'm trained 7 yrs iaido and 2 yrs kendo) 2: Blood and gore time! 3: clean sword and sheath back. Not that I am against christians, its just that nothing will stand in my way post Z-day. 0 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

I carry my scrolls and books as well as a bag of runes. Athiests may see it as dead weight, but it's my faith. If someone wants to carry a bible, let them. No need in degrading thier faith for amusement. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Oh, well I certainly hope no one would try to kill you for not being a member of their religion, but anything that can get people to like or trust you more would be a goodness in such an awful situation. =^_^= Also, I don't think Toxic was saying that you should carry a pocket New Testament, but rather, that he should carry one. As for engaging other humans with melee weapons, I personally would avoid it at all costs. I'm more of a spearman myself and I wouldn't want to risk either my partner or I getting shot unnecessarily. =^_^;;= As for you being against Christians, well, I think you are subconsciously, but hey that's cool. I am too, however, I'm just content with taking potshots from the sidelines of humor. =^_~= All that matters is what you do with your anti-ness 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

TR's right, this isn't a "You'll get banned" threat, this is a "you'll have much more fun participating on this site if you don't start trouble" incentive =^_^=

I have a bible because I may want to read some of it to an unbeliever as I burn them at the stakeJust kidding....uhmm...sort of I think a Bible would provide much comfort to a religious person such as I am.Also a good way to occupy yourself during slow periods. I think religion will play a large part in many if not most peoples lives in the post apocalyptic world and having a Bible would certainly help you to get more people involved in it hey you all did see that movie "Book of Eli" now didn't you? 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Let's change the perspective on this.Is it worth brining ANY books in your bug out bag? Personally, I think light weight books are a good source of entertainment. When you are done you can drop them off and pick up another one at whereever you are sheltering. Maybe leave a little review of the book on the inside jacket for other survivors to read. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
