I made a mace and a shield before. =^_^= The mace was a hollow barbell with four of the metal half-circle thing that came with it to hold weights in place. It was odd how well it held up, not very easy to swing though, it's balance is pretty dreadful and it's a tad too heavy. My shield's the type that's held by a handle in the middle, rather than strapped to the arm, it's a 2' dia circle with a metal boss. =^_^=

I also make javelins out of railroad spikes with my partner. A soft nail cage bent around the spike, with some twine or tape to hold it more securely will lend itself well to hundreds of throws into dirt. =^_^=

I am curious about your mace, shield and cleaver though. Those sound kinda cool. I'll gladly provide more details myself but my posts tend to be too long to read if I get carried away so I should stop here. =*_*=

My mace is a trailerball hitch and black iron pipe. The shield was made in my welding class at school, it covered the torso and groin area in a kite shield type, it was steel. It wasnt very pretty but I welded some rebar for the forearm strap and the actual handle was 1/2 inch welded in 6 spots.

The cleaver is a 12 inch cleaver with the handle stripped to the steel. I took 4 steel trailerball hitch nuts and smelted them in a brass knuckle fashion. The palmpiece was an old socket wrench, long 3/4s inch socket. Then after the knuckles cooled i welded them to the socket piece. I placed the steel handle into the socketwrench and welded them together.

The aluminum hollow barbells are very light and yeah my mace has some weight distributions problems too but thats the point of it. The trailerball hitch is pure steel and stress tested to 6000 pounds, youre not going to break it and the pipe is unlikely to break also.

@brandon a boyer
Which sword? Tomahawk: I took 1 foot of black iron pipe and screwed on an axe head at a 90 degree angle.

@Filadog
I used an oxy/acetylene torch welder to melt them together, i could have welded them, but i though pure steel wouldnt break as easily as a copper weld.

While I respect the craftsmanship it would take to build such a list,

I gotta wonder:

DO you have long range defensive/offensive weapons? Guns, bow/arrows?

In my opinion, some melee weapons have their place. I dont work on that stuff much anymore, but even if i did, I don't plan on using them for any type of defense unless thats what i have right in front of me.

Umm, you could probably buy four crossbows for the price of that Desert Eagle.

What caliber did you get that in?

Alright, I'm not calling you a liar, but it seems odd that you didn't bother to state which model of "bolt action hunting rifle" you had.

Also, like WB said, what caliber's that DE?

"Desert eagle is .45 caliber."
Desert Eagle does not come in .45, only .357, .44, and the ******* .50.

Now, don't even try to redeem yourself by saying "Oh, my mistake, it was a .44" You should know the caliber of your own weapons or you shouldn't own them at all.
