"While I can't get guns, at Canadian Tire they have hatchets and a freind of mine gives me lots of swords, which I have sharpened. "Are they well made? One of the worst things you could do is take it thinking it'll be helpful to use and it fall apart in your hands. If you can get a metalworker or swordsmith to look at it. Besides them not being a good mix unless said teenager has experience, I have no other comments.

But I'll have a swordsmith or metalworker to have a look at them, thanks for the suggestion. I'd hate to be training with them only to find out they're useless..... Do you find this valuable? |

Juts found this thread, how about a airosohole can with a match tied on with an elastic band. you move the match up and down to increase the 'fuse' time. light the match and throw.Do you find this valuable? |

I have always found it fun and interesting to make weapons. I have made a fair few. I have a picture of a lead weighted club I made on my profile, it doesn't look the best but it feels pretty nice in hand and feels good when you swing it. Early last year I stumbled across this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkFsIBaF3u4 . I decided to give it a go and attempt to make a macuahuitl. Surely enough it worked, it was capable of slicing through bottles of water. The glue I was using to hold the razor blades into place didn't react well to the water from the bottles I was slicing, most of the razor blades fell out, so I threw it out. I would definitely like to go about making another one of those and using some higher quality glue. I am not sure whether it would decapitate a zombie but I am sure it would do some damage! I also took some thick wooden dowel rod and a small plastic door knob and drilled a hole through the knob and screwed it and hot glued it onto the end of the dowel. Drilled a hole for a lanyard and some tape for grip and wallah! I made another lead weighted club just the other day, it's about half the size of the other one and about 2 times as heavy. I would definitely not want to get hit with it, that is for sure! I will go about posting up some pictures on my profile of all of these soon enough. Do you find this valuable? |

Personally, you should be working on your skill set and physical fitness right now. A club is just a club but a strong body and a sharp mind are always better weapons. Pick up some survival, military history, psychology and general history. It's not flashy, but knowledge is something you can always keep with you. Ask to take a martial arts class that will eventually let you train with weapons. The conditioning will keep you in shape and hand to hand will build your reflexes and mental conditioning which are far more important than any weilded weapon. It will also improve your skill in using weapons. If you can't go to class, at least buy a good book on martial arts and find a willing partner to help you train. Everything else should be considered secondary in your survival. Side note: If you are trying to build your own weapon, make sure you torture test the heck out of it. Don't expect the first one to survive the test is my philosophy. Once you can say for sure you can trust your life with it and it suits you and the situation, then you have something to be happy about. Do you find this valuable? |

The S.O.E crossbows from ww2 are simple and get a decent rate of fire.L'il joe is more compact and less powerful than big joe. I have to wonder though which designer would name a weapon Joe. "Personally, you should be working on your skill set and physical fitness right now. A club is just a club but a strong body and a sharp mind are always better weapons.I used to take Muay Thai classes but I have had to stop because I have to put my money and time into other things at the moment, I will be resuming after this year is up though, or maybe be starting one of the martial arts you have suggested. As for keeping fit, every morning I go jogging or do some bag work for an hour or so. I value having survival skills over having any weapon, I am still relatively new to survival, it was last year that I really started getting interested but I like to think I am a quick learner. I still have a ton to learn, but that's the fun part about trying to learn a skill, it takes time and the knowledge and experience you get at the end is the reward. I have beat that lead weighted club against trees and other hard surfaces numerous times to see if it would snap or crack, it stood up to the tests! I am not ready to say I would trust my life with it but after I do some more intense tests I might. Do you find this valuable? |

Awww we can't post our explosives? Well crap, I've created an extremely good one. I'm not sure how effective it is on a living thing though. I've only gotten as far as throwing it into the trees.

It's been said before, by other members, but I might as well reiterate it here.I wouldn't post recipies for explosives on a forum, and nor would I tell people where to get them. Because this is the internet, and this forum is open to the public, I do not want the responsibility of having someone try to make these explosives and end up hurting or killing either someone else or themselves. The explosives I know aren't really safe, but can be made from easy to obtain items, so it's a really bad idea to go telling everyone and anyone how to make them. That said, it does tell you how to make [NO WAY] and [NOT TELLING] like this at www.[HIDENFORYOUROWNGOOD].com Do you find this valuable? |

"That's exactly why I didn't tell everybody what it was or how I made it. "Explosives are highly over rated in a Post Apoc situation. What tactical advantage you would get? You really can't use them up close Materials and time would be wasted You'd need to stockpile equipment Big brother anyone? Storage and transportation issues UN-F*****G SAFE!!! Potental of setting things on fire that you don't want to or can't control Effectivness Practical usage is very limited or too specific. Lose-lose situation all the way around. Whatever you're trying to accomplish could be done by much safer means. Do you find this valuable? |
