PS: Anyone else notice the irony of his account name? He touts about how great humans are, yet idolizes an inefficient, extinct scavenger with useless arms.

poor kid, he was the worst troll I've ever seen. Either his heart just wasn't in it or he really was that stupid.

Ohhhh it's done now.... Yep too much beer today. But I agree with Renet; in the event of a catastrophy people will band together no matter what they're differences - as we did with the troll. That was a pretty bad troll though, but mind you, i've almost forgot what they looked like. Do you find this valuable? |

"just a question...... Where do you align retired military personnel as they are civilians but have had extensive military training. For the sake of the basic argument on this post......Do you think a PFC enlisted 1 1/2 years would stand a chance against a retired Green Beret from Desert Storm who has been training because he was parniod that the apoc was coming.Back on topic (rare for me...) Once a person is trained/conditioned in a military fashion, I will never really consider that person 100% civilian, regardless of how long they have been out of the service. Often in discussions involving how X member is going to set things up and kill any hostile forces, I try to (ever so politely) point out that plan X isn't likely to stand up against anyone with military training. Just as often, the response is something along the lines of "Well after the apocalypse anyone we come across is probably going to be civilian survivor groups lol." This is the main reason I don't accept those arguments: For every young, spry warrior currently serving there are ten "civilians" who have served in the past, have the same training, the same aggressive attitude (it never goes away for many) and the same combat experience. How many stories have you heard about 80+ year old Korea Veterans beating the ever-living dogsh*t out of armed robbers at the deli, or aerating burglars in their homes? Your muscles and reflexes may atrophy over time, but the "take no sh*t" mentality and the training are always there. Do you find this valuable? |

On a related note, has anyone actually watched Rambo 3 all the way through since 9/11? My buddies and I did a Rambo-thon not too long ago and we got a good chuckle out of the Cold-War-era "shout out" at the end of the movie to the "peace-loving freedom fighters of the Taliban." EDIT: Just went back and looked for it again, the exact text on screen is: "THIS FILM IS DEDICATED TO THE GALLANT PEOPLE OF AFGHANISTAN" ...I guess that's not quite as ironic as I remember, but the spirit of irony is conspicuously present :) Do you find this valuable? |
