ZSDW Official zombie survival video.

This is in addition to Marsden's suggestion for an all hands community event starting in November.

I had been playing with a thought for a little while. What inspired it was this:

I practice wilderness survival a lot, Les Stroud style. Now that I've got a video camera, I was going to make a bunch of videos from finding water, navigating and building fires, and etc, but I was sorta thinking...
Why not extend it to all of ZSDW?

Basically what my though is; is to make a video. Maybe about 2 hours in length - maybe more. Made up of a whole bunch of mini-videos from ZSDW.

In essance it would be documentary-style, sorta.
Best example of how this whole thing would look like is robotchicken. If you've ever seen the show, it's a mix of various skits with different animations. That show is a comedy of course, but I'm aiming for somthing simmilar, but only more geared towards all that we do here and not so much for humor. It can still have laughs, by all means, however.

Just imagine, in ten minutes there could be four mini vids. One person is pulling off a crocodile hunter move and studying a pack of zombies (played by their friends).
"crikey, we've got ourselves a bloke here!"
next vid cuts in and it's about how to stock your BOB.
Next is a quick vid of someone being chased at night and giving a commentary.
"oh **** it's comming, it's comming, I see it! *runs, huffing and puffing* **** ohh ****, wait, ones there too. RUN JIMMY!"
After that could be a video on how to kill a zombie.

What I'm trying to get at is that the entire video would be limited to your imagination. But also giving useful tips and so on.

What does everyone say? Maybe we could expand on the idea. Do you find this valuable?

Sounds cool, but I don't think I'd make any vids, I don't really have anything to add than what everyone else knows Do you find this valuable?

Meh, even if I made a video... Yeah, my camera quality was outdated for a few years now. Do you find this valuable?

But that's the thing about the video, it's entertaining, but made to educate. As long as your clip pertains to zombie survival/ awareness, etc, it could probably be put in.
Somthing that is common knowledge here on zsdw may not be out in the rest of the world.

Poor quality videos are acceptable too. Just imagine *exclusive zombie footage*.

Even any normal disaster planning can work, it's just that were zsdw.

I remember the zsdw YouTube channel from back in the day. With participation we can make this work.

Even if you don't want to make a video, maybe you could help out in planning? Do you find this valuable?

No I know Alex did that part. I was just bringing up the whole project we were working on then.

I dunno, anyone who doesn't want to *make* a video clip could help plan how the whole thing will work... If they wish. maybe writing a skit.. Or, or somthing. Do you find this valuable?

Actually, I could remedy the poor quality film with a static webcam(my portable camera may be outdated, but my laptop webcam isn't even a year old), but that means no fancy running shots. Essentially just a "last days video journal"...

Actually, that seems like a decent idea. Do you find this valuable?

I say we test the waters with some basic, "user submitted videos" before we go for full-out, cinematic stuff. We have plenty of instructional material, we could easily make another playlist for this sorta stuff. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

You know, I like the way you think, John :)

I agree, maybe we could start off by maybe, 8 of us each doing a video clip each. Then we could get *that* put together and build off it if it looks more promising. That way other users would also have an example of what we're looking for.

I like the idea of the video diary too, randomknife! That sounds really great!

Is there anything in specific anyone would like to see in the video? Or further suggestions?

I animate, edit video and make music vids n stuff for. . . fun. . . it's my idea of a nice time. It's like doing very noisy jigsaw puzzles ; )

I may participate, no guarantee's since I got schooling and stuff to worry about primarily (I would say there is a good chance I will participate) Do you find this valuable?

Great to hear! Of course, school; work; personal stuff comes first.

I'm actually just about ready to shoot my survival food video :)

I just need the gatorade powder... And I ate some of my powerbars... :( Do you find this valuable?

What videos do you need to be made? I also would like to through this out here. If you make video (non comedic) Make sure to make key points (similar to what nutnfancy does, btw I don't like that guy now anyways) when he made his videos. im not saying to have paper showing in the video more like you know what you're saying instead of hearing constant ummmm.

I saw a video review on ak/sks gun sling and the guy kept saying ummm, ya, ummm. I went to look at my sling I had (same one) and I though to myself, Well he can talk about it is double stitched so that makes it more durable. Just a suggestion. Do you find this valuable?
