My Survival Plan

Where do I live? I live in South Dakota ( yeah, its still a state) in a small town named volga

Where do I plan to set up my encampment? about ten miles south is a small church It has a fence around the whole thing except the front about 6 feet high. It only has a main floor and a balcony and a small boiler room. A fireplace, no AC. There is no cemetary

How Will I Get Supplies? Well since volga is a pop. of about 2000 people im roughly guessing that a couple to no people will survive. So that grocery store is pretty much mine. at the church there is a little creek right by it so i could filter out that water and drink it.

What Will I Use For A Weapon? I have six .22, three .12, and a M-16 that my dad got for serving. I have plenty axes, and knifes, i even have a katana

What Will Be My Transportation? I have a dodge RAM 4x4

Anyother Info? I will try to start a colony so please if you live anywhere near brookings or volga in south dakota please message me. Please give me tips on what i can do better with this plan.

Setting up at a church? Given that in times of stress, people turn to religion, I don't think that this will be a good place. It is possible that the congregation will decide death at their own hands is preferable to the zombies, and you could be caught up and become an unwilling participant in another Heavens Gate type scenario.

Relying on scavenging a grocery store is a big no-no. Read "The Panic". Even a population of 2,000 can mean you are fighting dozens of others for the supplies.

Katana? Unless you paid $10,000 for it, it won't last long. And unless you have learnt the proper technique to use it, you won't last long. You can't swing a katana like a regular sword. The cutting power comes from the pull as you strike. It takes practice.

Starting a colony requires a lot more planning than a single thread post.

We all have to start somewhere Pedro.

Since you are living in a small town with a population of 2000, It would be well worth it to stock up on several thousand rounds, so you can take out the majority if not all zombies in the area.

Also don't assume that everyone is going to die/zombified, how do you know that a bus full of people didn't just drive in for some party or w/e. You might have 10-20 lucky people on your hands to deal with when you expected 1-2.

Relying SOLELY on scavenging is a very bad idea, If you have your supplies stocked up and maybe need to go out and grab some extras a couple of weeks since Z-day, would generally be ok.

The first week or two of your plan should be you in your home with your buddies and/or family holding out till everyone who didn't prepare get trampled/shot/eaten/ran over etc. etc. At which point you peek outside and check if it's ok.
